Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ItbI6zCwAJc

Some notes I found interesting: The inverter starts at 110V which is a bit low already, and if you use a 50ft+ extension cord and pull say 1000W with this it's possible you end up with 100V at your load which is bad. As you add more load the voltage drops alarmingly as well. If you get to 2400W and above it just keeps dropping the voltage instead of tripping. The review shows under 90V at one point. This was tested at 1.7kwh capacity, so about 80% of rated capacity (85-88% is common in this class). My take: If you have non-sensitive equipment and want a battery that draws low wattage for a reasonable amount of time, this is decent. But this doesn't perform like other 2kwh batteries from what I've seen.

Ahh, I didn't think about the transportation danger involved. Thanks for clarifying that you have seen this as common. I am anxious to get it set up soon. Our country's grid needs to be updated. Power lines through people's backyards is NOT acceptable. I can live a brief while without power, but NOT without Internet. I have my router/modem connected to a new APC unit I bought about a year ago from Amazon that is horizontal that runs them separately. I wish they made more like that, but moot because I'm going with these types of UPS now.
With how cheap these power stations are getting, it's really a no-brainer, the traditional UPS like APC really don't hold a candle. When I went looking for a UPS that used LiFePO4, I was really surprised what they cost. I found a GoldenMate brand one that can support up to 1,000 watts of connected equipment but used a small 300 watt LiFePO4 battery and they wanted $400 for it. That price seems like an insult, might as well find a deal on a power station with UPS feature. People who don't know any better will keep those UPS companies in business, but for everyone else, much better options out there.

Great question! Yes, for us newbies, is there an additional fee once landed in the US?

Well, this particular item ships for free from a US warehouse (mine is coming from southern California), so there's no shipping or tariff.
As for other items on AE, I definitely wouldn't recommend buying things from AE that was shipped directly from China, you're going to pay a hefty tariff on it that YOU have to pay for upon delivery. The current administration took away an exemption that made shipments under $800 duty free.
Before February 2025, things you had shipped directly to you from China that was worth less than $800 you don't need to worry about fees upon delivery, now, you do. I ask Grok what a $50 shipment would cost me in fees and the response I got was $27. So it makes zero sense now to purchase things that ships direct to you from China. Probably why we're seeing more of these AE items shipping out of warehouses in the US.

These must be grabe-b or less quality cells. 500W input is a deal-breaker as well for many
BMS and other electronics will fail before you have to worry about the cells.
These things have ridiculous cycle life, no normal person is going to run out of cycles in 10 years (3650+ days). And no one is really cycling this once per day.
Even if these are subpar cells with say 1500 cycles, it is still well over 10yrs for the avg user. By then, battteries would probably be 10x cheaper too.

is catching fire a valid concern when using / storing an unknown brand at home? I don't want to save few hundred dollars, and a home. Anyone of you have similar concern? Or just me.

I worry more about my smartphone battery catching my house on fire.
This power station has been on the market for a year, if spontaneously catching on fire was an issue, we would hear about it because a LiFePO4 power station doing that would be news. Solarplay doesn't make these, it's only their name on the product and they're the public facing company. Like everything else, there's a 3rd party that make these as well as similar versions as well as other power stations for other companies. The cells and other electrical components in this power station aren't unique, they're just off the shelf parts used in other power stations as well, they're not made only/specifically for this one power station, that would be uneconomical.
LiFePO4 cells are probably the most stable as far as the lithium class of batteries. LiFePO4 is pretty mature now, you would have to be intentionally destructive with the cells in the wrong way for it to catch fire and burn your house down. There are plenty of torture test videos of LiFePO4 batteries online for you to check out.

I will never buy those suspicious products on AliExpress, eBay, Temu, etc.
Even Amazon sale fake USB, memories, and others

If the price is too good to be true, just trust your instinct.

I am not buying this!

Buyer beware.. too many scam companies on Aliexpress. I bought a couple things from there last year and none of them arrived. Company faked the delevery info and Aliexpress did nothing to correct it or refund me my money. Had to dispute it through my credit card company to get my money back.
