Samsung's launch trade-in deals are garbage. Just wait a few months until they go on a massive sale.

Seriously, cover your butts.
I used to thing people were exaggerating with statements like this, until after it happened to me.
If you have the storage to do so, make a recording of the trade in device showing the condition, and then go into the settings and show the IMEI for the device, and then kick off a factory reset on the recording and let it finish.
I did all of these things and thought there wouldnt be problems. Like 2 months later I get a email with no way to fight it saying I sent a device which wasnt factory reset and thus the trade in was null and void and I was on the hook for like $400 dollars. I reached out to Samsung and shared my video showing the trade in people were liars, and they eventually reversed the nonsense.
But had I not had that video, it would have been their word vs mine, and I would have been toast. Sneaky Sneak little trade in contractors. Be careful.

It would have to be a damn good or insane trade in for me to mess with Samsung trade ins again.

They will give you $1100 trade in for the Fold6 which is going for $900 on ebay if you're lucky.

Same here. Been trading in devices for newer models since S8. Never had a problem. I have done multiple watches and buds as well.

Also have had no issues with trade ins. I do as a precaution record the exterior of the phone showing no cracks and the reset of the phone. Samsung even gave me full trade in value when Fedex lost the package going to them.

Days? Android phone to new android phone transfers all of your phone data over to the new device in like an hour if you connect the two devices over USB, or maybe 1-2 hours over wifi. It's part of the setup process when you initially boot up your new phone, it's really seamless
Yeah a ton on my secure apps need to be setup again and require codes from existing old phone to sign in and setup new instance on the new phone. It's laborious and I usually can't do for hours on end in one sitting.

DO NOT TRUST SAMSUNG TRADE IN PROMOS. YOU WILL GET SCREWED! Jawdrop
Sounds like someone's butt-hurt because he/she didn't follow Samsung's trade-in instructions

Reservations are just free marketing for Samsung to generate attentions and noises. Best deals are with bundle discount, double storage, etc. after launch.
Not true. They do give an extra discount for people who have reserved.

I may be wrong but I think the opinion that launch deals are garbage and that prices will go down if you wait is outdated and now half wrong. The deals are garbage tbh, especially compared to years past (ie flip 4 to 5 was just $100 at launch). But they're also the best you'll likely get. I've watched every launch over the past year and a half or so, and it's quite rare that a better offer comes along at any point. And it's usually about a year before you see anything even comparable to the reservation deal.

Personally I'm a z flip convert since the 5 launched. The Fold upgrades this year look so appealing that I might have to make that jump, but honestly not sure I can go back to a large phone. Once you get used to the flip from factor, it's hard to go back to anything else. This year's flip looks ok, but I'm not sure it's worth the upgrade. I might consider switching to the razr ultra if Samsung again failed to improve the cover screen usability from this good lock/tile nonsense.

Verizon is expensive though

Doesn't matter if all goes well since you will get a credit for the bill and cancel the service without a penalty.

I have been doing the tradein and launch deal since S8. When people say it is not good anymore, they are comparing it to older deals. But I agree with you that launch deals are still the best in terms of overall value. For eg if you include reservation credit, samsung credit, etc, you could get a phone, ear buds, watch etc together for lesser price. But if you are not interested in spending more to buy these additional things, and all you want is a phone, then there are deals that happen later that are equally good. Yes you dont get additional stuff, but just the phone itself without trading in anything is a better deal later on. It also depends on how well the sales for a phone is doing. if they are doing well, the later deals might not come till christmas or thanksgiving. But if they dont meet numbers, the sale comes within two months. Anyway, from what they are saying, this phone is going to cost 2000+. so it better be super good to even consider this.

I agree in general. It helps the foldable crowd that watches launch at the same time, as each upgrade I've gone for has been a combination flip/watch upgrade with multiple trade-ins. The deals aren't bad per se as you mentioned, just nowhere near what Samsung used to give us. And to everyone else, I wouldn't sit on the sidelines expecting better if you want an upgrade now, because chances are you won't get it.

curious what fold 6 would get in trade in value.

Same as S25 ultra and that sucks, given the cost of phones are so different. I am guessing 1000 for S25 ultra and fold 6 with 150 Samsung dlcredit for.accessories and another 50 credit for reservation. given the rumors of cost of fold 7, you will still have to shell out a 1000+ for the new phone

Seems carrier deals are better and include models 3/4 years old(not for plumbers sticking to 15/20 dollar plans)
