Samsung's launch trade-in deals are garbage. Just wait a few months until they go on a massive sale.

Seriously, cover your butts.
I used to thing people were exaggerating with statements like this, until after it happened to me.
If you have the storage to do so, make a recording of the trade in device showing the condition, and then go into the settings and show the IMEI for the device, and then kick off a factory reset on the recording and let it finish.
I did all of these things and thought there wouldnt be problems. Like 2 months later I get a email with no way to fight it saying I sent a device which wasnt factory reset and thus the trade in was null and void and I was on the hook for like $400 dollars. I reached out to Samsung and shared my video showing the trade in people were liars, and they eventually reversed the nonsense.
But had I not had that video, it would have been their word vs mine, and I would have been toast. Sneaky Sneak little trade in contractors. Be careful.

It would have to be a damn good or insane trade in for me to mess with Samsung trade ins again.

ive traded in at least 10 devices to Samsung and have not had a single issue
I didn't think it was common and It happened to me. as someone who has traded in multiple devices to them, I was surprised. i think they went with a different 3rd party company to handle the trades last year. either way, i had pictures and videos. and had to "make my case". they even tried to screw me on the galaxy watch 5 pro. Initially said it wasn't reset. then I sent pics. then said it was banned and "where did you purchase it?" much to their surprise, i sent them away screenshot of the purchase FROM SAMSUNG.COM.I told a friend about what happened, and thankfully he took my advice. Surprise surprise, they tried it with him too. protect yourself guys. Pics to screen intact, powered on, and reset.

Sent from my phone, accidently replied to the wrong comment

I think one sells fold 6 for $1000 and if past years FI discounts are any indication then it will be a $200+tax upgrade.
Not sure what you mean. Sell on Swappa a Fold 6 then upgrade and only pay $200 difference with no trade?

Yes, if you preorder it from FI. They typically have $700 off for existing user on flexible plan. If you are seriously thinking about fold 7 then you should sign up on FI now as it takes roughly 21 days to become an existing users and for FI to show you those discounts.

Is there a way I can get hold of Flip 5 or 6 at a decent price?

FI has flip 6 for $550, you will need to be an existing users (takes roughly 21 days) and stay with FI for 4 months, $25 per month.

Bullshit. I've traded in at least 20 devices over the past 10 years and always get my credit. Always.
Always video and take pictures of your working old phone. Make sure you video that you factory wiped it and it isn't cracked, screen works, etc.

Twice they tried to tell me there was a problem. Just telling I had video and I could send them the video got their customer service to credit my trade-in.

I want to buy S24+ or S24U 256Gb, new one, not refurbished. And it should not be ebay sale
I don't want any hassle or risk with trade in. I am ready to pay $550 for plus version and $650 for ultra.
Do I demand too mach?
Not even Samsung refurbished... Need to settle for mid tier for that price

my fold 4 is giving some issues. The screen doesn't folds completely and recently after a water dip the wifi has stopped working. Would I be able to trade my fold 4 with this condition? How much value can I expect?

You can S24U for $432, see https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1106149. You do have to deal with ATT/VZW cancellation but that's what one needs to do to get heavily carrier subsided phones.

Samsung sometimes has elevated trade in for broken phones same as the non-broken ones (AFAIR during BF/Holidays), you can check when preorders are alive.

Does anyone know of a hack like apple.com for ordering an unlocked Samsung Phone while taking advantage of the carrier subsidies? For example, if you order an Apple phone on apple.com and choose T-Mobile as your carrier, you receive the benefits of a T-Mobile plan and get an unlocked phone. allowing you to use multiple SIMs if needed.

I may be wrong but I think the opinion that launch deals are garbage and that prices will go down if you wait is outdated and now half wrong. The deals are garbage tbh, especially compared to years past (ie flip 4 to 5 was just $100 at launch). But they're also the best you'll likely get. I've watched every launch over the past year and a half or so, and it's quite rare that a better offer comes along at any point. And it's usually about a year before you see anything even comparable to the reservation deal.

Personally I'm a z flip convert since the 5 launched. The Fold upgrades this year look so appealing that I might have to make that jump, but honestly not sure I can go back to a large phone. Once you get used to the flip from factor, it's hard to go back to anything else. This year's flip looks ok, but I'm not sure it's worth the upgrade. I might consider switching to the razr ultra if Samsung again failed to improve the cover screen usability from this good lock/tile nonsense.

I really miss the $100 price when trading in the previous years flip. I got the flip 4 and 5 that way, but the 6 was like 350 or something. This year, I'm hoping to trade in my Flip 5 for the 7. I know it probably won't be cheap to do so, but it hopefully will be worth it

You should be able to do $100 upgrade by getting it from FI which typically gives $500 of more off. And you can sell flip 5 for about that price or a bit more locally

Same experience with me. I've traded in maybe 4 or so devices, and never had an issue until I traded in my old S2 for the S10+ tablet when it was launched. I didn't hear from them until 6 months later saying that it wouldn't turn on, and I would have to pay. Luckily I recorded it everything from reset to turning on so I had proof. Funny thing is when I chatted with the rep, they took my word without asking for the video. Guess it really depends on the rep.
