One of the best games of all time with a bit of a quirk. It's best experienced knowing as little as possible going in. I honestly wish I could erase my memory of this game so I could play it from the start all over again. What I can say about it is this: prepare yourself. After you finish this game, there will be an Outer Wilds shaped hole in your soul that possibly no other game can fill, an itch that only a game better than or equal to Outer Wilds can scratch, and few games, if any, will compare.

Can you tell me how to get into this game, I tried buying and returning twice, the first hour or two was dreadful for me - and yes I like exploration games but this one, for all the positivitiy, seems like an extreme slow burn at least in the beginning. Am I wrong for feeling this and does it get better after the first hour or two

Yes it gets better once you get into deeper into the game. I did get stuck at a few points in the game and needed to check a guide but still had a great time.
The sci-fi story is great and ranks right up there with the great movies like 2001 Space Odyssey and Interstellar. Highly recommended!

I understand what you mean. The beginning is all about establishing yourself as the driving force. The game has no set directive, no set pathing, and for some people this can be a bit off-putting, maybe even a bit boring. It's entirely driven by curiosity. For me, this is the best thing about Outer Wilds. The game throws many hooks at you and anyone who has played for longer than 20 minutes will know there's a very large mystery to be solved. This game is very meticulously crafted and there are many natural points of interest that flow into each other. The momentum builds the more you lean into the natural points of interest. For me, the excitement comes from peeling back the obfuscating layers of what's already happened, what's currently happening, and facing the creeping fear of what's about to happen, especially once you start to anticipate it. Keep pushing forward and, inevitably, you will be pulled in.

Use your ship's computer. This sped up the game for me drastically
