The reference model that never released was supposed to be 600. AMD made a deal with partners to release their bottom end card for that same 600 at launch. This card has an enhanced cooler and rgb so will always cost more. Sad that mid tier cards like this are at this price. When i got into pc gaming in 2013ish a top tier card was like 300. Crazy...

This will never be $600. That was a teaser price that you won't see again except for those NewEgg deals that last 30 seconds or maybe Black Friday.

I paid $400 for a 1070 I ordered online at launch about 10 years ago. There were no "shortages" so it was possible to buy online at MSRP on launch day. That 1070 beat the previous flagship 980 TI, so you legitimately got 980 TI performance for $400 - a proper generational upgrade. Fast forward to today, and it's backwards - flagship prices for low tier cards like the 5070, which is really only a 5060, and weaker than the previous 4070 Super. Nvidia trying hard to make everyone Fomo into 5090 because that's the only tier with a meaningful generational upgrade. I loathe Nvidia anti consumer tactics, so I purchased an AMD 7900 XT late last year. I wanted to love it. Unfortunately, I had to return the card for 2 reasons: 1. AMD FSR was miles behind Nvidia DLSS 2. For some reason the 7900 XT idled at 280 watts, almost it's full power despite tweaking every power saving /eco settings I could find. For comparison, my 4090 idled at about 24 watts. If AMD resolved these two issues I would buy this AMD card over the 5070 TI. Does anyone have experience with 5070 XT who can comment on FSR and idle power consumption?
AMD FSR 4 is now 90 percent as good as DLSS. You can use a program called Optiscaler to run FSR 4 on any game that has FSR3 or DLSS. You just drag and drop some files into the game directory.

Fsr3.1 is already on par with dlss, if not surpassed it. It runs on every card, including consoles..and it's baked into new games already. If you need dlss or fsr you're just inadvertently stating that your card is too slow anyway
This is just not remotely true. 4.0, not 3.1, is AI based (3.1 is very bad in some games like cyberpunk) and better than the last gen DLSS and close to the new transformer model. You need Optiscaler if it not supported natively by a game to run it and even then only if the game supports FRS3.1 or DlSS.

Buy this current GPU quick, before Newegg bundles this GPU with memory sticks, gaming keyboards, or even gaming chairs.

I love AMD hardware but I think that any reasonable person would agree that this statement is objectively false. And the number of games that support FSR is lower than DLSS.
It's false, but FSR 4 is on par with DLSS and can be used in any game that supports DLSS 3.1 or DLSS with a program called Optiscaler.

Nvidia premium is worth it if you gaming and don't want deal with driver issue, you also get ton of features, yeah it's worth it.

As of this post, AMD's Windows drivers and software are more stable, more user friendly, and better designed than NVIDIA's. Particularly, when it comes to setting up display resolution and color settings suitable for HDR.
The NVIDIA Control Panel hasn't seen any major revision, or design change since 2003.

Lately, NVIDIA's drivers have caused me, and other 40/50 series users, serious problems.

In addition, there are other NVIDIA problems that I, thankfully, haven't had to deal with. You know, the melting 12VHP connectors, cards shipping with missing RoPs, BS marketing, media manipulation, and blatant anti-competitive practices, Just to name a few.

So this month, for the first time in 22 years, and 11 NVIDIA GPUs, I bought AMD. In fact, I replaced a 4080 with a 9070 XT.
Yeah, the 9070 XT is a little weaker on paper, FSR4 is only 90% as good as DLSS, and it doesn't have ray reconstruction.

In trade, I no longer have to:
1. Cherry pick an older version of the GPU driver to have a stable experience.
2. Install my GPU drivers with a 3rd party program to prevent NVIDIA'S telemetry from uploading almost a GB of telemetry data in a month.
3. Deal with random game crashes caused by frame gen and DLSS.
4. Make sure the monitor I have selected as my primary display in Windows is plugged into the right most Display Port connector to avoid crashes.
5. Repair, or reinstall Windows because it refuses to boot, on a faulty driver.

It had been 12 years (since 2009) before I decided to buy myself another AMD GPU (an ASUS TUFF RX 6800 XT in 2022). After that long of a hiatus I understand your conundrum... "Welcome [back] to the family son" (in my Jack Baker voice, lol).

3.1 is solid. I compared it with dlss and there's barely any difference..there's some difference on fast movement, the sides get blurred..but it works well

Fsr3 runs on every card. Nvidia, intel, and of course amd.
It also runs on consoles. It's vastly superior to the vintage dlss

I am not going to argue with you but I do want to clarify for anyone else who might read this in the future:
  • FSR 3 requires game support. For games that support FSR, it can be enabled on any GPU. If a game does not support FSR 3, then you cannot enable it (duh)
  • FSR 4 requires game support, but currently can only be enabled on RDNA4 GPUs (RX 9070 XT, RX 9070, RX 9060 XT)
  • DLSS 3 and DLSS 4 require game support. DLSS can only be enabled on Nvidia RTX GPUs.
  • While subjective, the general consensus is that Traditional Scaling < FSR 3 < DLSS 3 < FSR 4 < DLSS 4.
  • DLSS is supported in more games than FSR. In my opinion, this is currently the biggest advantage of DLSS.
  • It may be possible to enable FSR 3 or FSR 4 in games that support DLSS using third party tools like OptiScaler. This is not fully supported and is outside the scope of what most people are willing to do.

It's funny reading GPU drama like it's xbox vs playstation.

I had two options both gigabyte, a 9070xt for $750 or a 5070ti for $820. I went Nvidia because I haven't had one in over 20 years. I have been exclusive to ATI. Is it better than the 9070xt? Who knows, was it worth about $100 more, I don't know. I will say Oblivion Remastered looks pretty as fark with all the gimmicks on the Nvidia turned up.

As for this card. I won't buy assrock or powercolor, so $700 would be a pass. All the people talking about $600 msrp. That was a bullshit price, and everyone let the scam out of the bag with their place holder prices after the bots bought up the stock at launch. All the stores showed $750 to match the actual msrp of the 5070ti. That is what AMD wanted to sell the card for. The only reason prices have come down is because scalpers aren't moving these cards because people are scared the economy is going to crash and it's harder to part with cash to a scalper than to charge it to a credit card and make payments to a store.
