You might want to check out some comparisons between the 5800X and the 5900XT. The performance difference isn't much, and if you're gaming, you'd be much better off with an X3D variant (5800X3D or above).

Please hold til payday deal lol. I have a 5800x and this would be a great upgrade for the price versus going am5

I've considered going that route, same CPU. I'm hoping they release 5950X3D 5900X3D as a farewell to AM4

It says AM4 in the title?
Says Micro Center: AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT 16-Core / 32-Thread AM4 Desktop Processor $210 just like it did in my email. Maybe the title was updated?

Does it make any sense to upgrade from 3900x? Seems like the sale price for used 3900x on ebay is close to $80-100.

I actually just did this upgrade this last week. I'm planning to use my 3900x for a NAS/Plex server. I haven't really put it through it's paces yet, no trouble so far

How do you PC feel after the upgrade? Do you feel any difference in responsiveness during regular use?

Strange, I defaulted to Yonkers, NY store and they had it for that price. I changed to Overland Park, KS and it is $349. I'll have to see if Microcenter will price match Microcenter

Guys, Bestbuy online just price matched with free shipping to Arizona. There are no Microcenter locations in AZ. Hope this helps some of you.

I have a PC that is running a Ryzen 7 2700X that I built in 2018. I recently upgraded the BIOS/UEFI to the latest release and according to ASROCK, I can put in a 5000 series processor in my older Asrock x370 killer sli/ac MB. It's an extra machine that we use in the living room for light gaming (Nvidia 3070).

I noticed that there is a CPU bottleneck of 20% in a benchmark I ran, so I believe upgrading from the 2700x to a 5000 series will help overall with gaming and general usage.

I noticed that this 5900XT is on the supported list (P10.31) but doesn't include a cooler.
https://www.asrock.com/mb/amd/x37...ex.asp#CPU

As this is not a primary machine I am trying to keep the cost low, but remove the bottleneck. The 5800XT includes a cooler, so that would save some money.

Any other options I should consider for low cost?

Until Micro Center learns how to ship combo deals, can we ban them from front page deals or at least give them their own sub-forum?

Anyone installed this yet?
How is it?

Can anyone comment on encoding a 1080/4K video in the background while playing games?

You might have to buy it from Microcenter via Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/stores/MIC...ndLogo_sto

finally bit the bullet! i am going from a 3700x to the 5900x. what a snappier computer. cod also runs significantly more smooth. i am achieving 4k 80fps with my 3070fe, whereas before i could barely break 60. thank you great find!

I can't decide between this and 5700X3D?!
you know what, i went for this instead of the 5700x3d. i dont only game and coming from already having 8cores, this is a huge upgrade in even web browsing. the gaming performance for this vs the 5700x3d is +-5%. in some simulators, this may outperform the 5700x3d. same crap, this is currently cheaper but has double the cores.
