Also, a really bad idea to buy new shoes for a trip. Doesn't matter how good the shoes are, you need time to break them in and find any potential issues

These are Hokas road to trail shoes. Basically does both the idea being you run to your trail and keep on going. Competitors in this category would be New Balance Hierro series, Nike Pegasus Trail and I'm sure others. It's a good shoe.

I find them very comfortable for normal everyday walking. I'm curious whose feet don't hurt a little after 15k steps regardless of what type of shoe you're wearing. That seemed like an extreme example to me

For once my size in the color I wanted wasn't sold out. I went with the Haze/Forest one in 10.5. I've used Zappos before and their return process is very simple. This is definitely a great deal so thanks for posting OP.

are these only good for the trails, or are they okay for normal everyday walking as well? or are there better models for the everyday like say Bondi, etc.?

These are not very comfortable for everyday. I heard the hype that Hokas are so comfy blah blah and bought a pair of Challenger 6's before a Japan trip which averaged 8-10 miles a day of walking over 14ish hrs and my feet were killing me every day around the 15000 step range. I felt a little betrayed by this but found out that the Challenger line isn't meant for this type of use case.

I normally prefer wide width too but for some reason these are always wide enough for me.

I've been wearing the goretex version of these 7 days a week for several years. I wear them all day at work, and often walk 30 minutes at lunch. I wore them everyday on vacation recently and walked 6 to 8 miles everyday, always super comfy and never a blister.
