I've only played racing Sims on Playstation but recently upgraded my PC and would like to try out pc racing Sim games.

GT7 is an arcade game. It's fun, even with a wheel, but it's not realistic at all. Automobilista has much more realistic driving mechanics. It's not perfect, but none of the simulators are. Some have better tire models, some have better road surface models, etc. Automobilista is well worth the $4, and there are quite a few mods where you can add more cars and tracks for free. It's also the king of VR Sim racing on PC. The graphics are great and it's much better optimized for VR than other sims (Assetto Corsa is horribly optimized for VR).

drives well, sounds great, visually great, not extremely demanding on the PC
if you enjoy classic motorsports, the historically correct circuits and layouts are unmatched. vintage f1 cars are a great time.
lots of content in the base game, worth the buy just to see if you like it, and then grow with DLC when you want to drive something else.
