Huge bottle of Pine-Sol will clean everything.
But you are correct about the acid. In fact, home remedies often involve soaking rusted items in vinegar or lemon juice overnight. That's obviously impractical for a toilet bowl although I've seen instructions to shut the water, flush out the bowl and then fill it with vinegar or lemon juice. That may work but it's very expensive and annoyingly slow.
If you do decide to use vinegar or lemon juice, one recommendation is to make a paste to apply in the bowl. People always recommend using baking soda for the paste but that's a huge mistake: the baking soda will neutralize the acetic acid in vinegar, making it useless. That's why sodium bicarbonate is used as an antacid. My solution is much simpler. Just soak toilet paper in vinegar and make it stick to the porcelain.
Another popular remedy that has some science is to soak the toilet in Coca Cola overnight. Coke contains carbonic, citric, and phosphoric acids so it may actually work.
Or just use Lysol like you did! 🤪
