You should also know that this product contains palm oil, rather than hydrogenated oils. Palm oil is considered a "healthier" substitute for hydrogenated oils, but there are significant concerns about deforestation caused by palm oil farming. About 5% of all deforestation Southeast Asia is due to palm oil production.

I see so many people talk about how palm oil contributes to deforestation yadda yadda, truth is no one really cares. Not even people in Southeast Asia. If it weren't for palm oil, it would be some other crop. Boycotting palm oil isn't going to change this, and this non-issue is manufactured for westerners to feel superior over Asians.

However, what I really am concerned about with palm oil is that massive amount of saturated fat it has. It has the highest saturated fat % out of any oil and is hardly healthier than hydrogenated oils. It's still really bad for you, and putting palm oil in a "natural" peanut butter product is incredibly misleading. They cleverly hide the nutrition facts in the Amazon listing, but it increases the saturated fat from 2.5g (Kirkland) to 3.5g per 2 tbsp. It sounds like a small amount, but the daily recommended value is 20g and you're probably exceeding that by about double if you're eating red meat regularly. It's also pretty easy to go heavy on peanut butter and put more than 2 tbsp if you're making a PB&J.

Unfortunately unless you're buying expensive or Kirkland Signature brand natural peanut butter, it seems like all the mainstream grocery store brands mislead people by putting palm oil and sugar in "natural" peanut butter. As others have said, natural peanut butters should only have one ingredient: peanuts. A bit of salt is allowed to enhance the taste, but sugar and added oils should never be in natural peanut butter.

Great deal about .10 cents oz vs Sam's .19cents. This and and the Sam's club one taste exactly the same, but this one spreads so much smoother
Interesting...I'm a big fan of the Sam's Club natural PB and look forward to trying this. I'm pretty happy with the Sam's version except for the occasional pack that is too watery/oily.

Thank you. Natural should mean the ingredients list has only a single entry: PEANUTS!
That may be YOUR definition of "natural" but if something has only non-processed ingredients then one can label something "natural" (from nature).

It is way worse than that. As long as the ingredients come from natural sources, item qualifies to be labeled as natural, even though it has undergone extensive processing. For example, florida orange juice claims to be 100% orange juice and nothing else, which is technically true, but the reality is that the orange juice is separated into flavor extract, water and sweetener (and other stuff, waste), then put back in right quantity so they all taste exactly the same.

My point was that having only one ingredient is not the definition of natural.

According to the FDA, they generally define "natural" as meaning nothing artificial or synthetic has been added that wouldn't normally be expected to be there. It's totally expected that PB has oils and sugar added, as it has forever.

Purists may prefer just peanuts but natural PB doesn't mean it contains only peanuts.

Per ounce, the 40 oz. Walmart natural creamy peanut butter is cheaper for me.

Sam's is actually $0.09/oz. Their calculation is wrong, uses 40oz instead of the full 80oz.

18 months. https://www.peanutbutter.com/faqs...0the%20lid [peanutbutter.com].

A 15 oz jar has 13 servings according to skippy so this would be 13 x 12 = 156 servings. 18 months is 547 days, so if you wanted to eat it all in 18 months you would need to have one serving every 3.5 days. Considering most people eat more than one serving at a time, it shouldn't be too difficult to get through it all before it expires, especially if you do any kind of baking with it.
Happy Friday math day.
totally agree, i eat it straight and also smaller jars makes it less prone to dry out. easier to carry out/picnic etc.

i get $7.98/80=0.0975. That's pretty much 10 cents per oz.

I was going to mention that, also...smaller jars will help the purchase last longer if kept cool.

Fair, still cheaper per oz than this "deal" (and better macros). My store is a bit cheaper at $7.78.

Smooth peanut butter is a crime against Man and God.
But this isn't peanut butter, it's peanut butter "spread". Real peanut butter has just peanuts and salt. This abomination contains sugar and palm oil.
