Now isn't the time to be buying anything at Amazon (IMO) unless it's a really good price or it's something you need right away.

The remote is the only way to toggle surround mode, bass boost, and the different EQ options. It sounds better than the speakers in my decade-old 24" TV-monitor. The USB port will read mp3 files off a fat32 formatted flash drive. HDMI ARC is the modern standard but I wanted it for the SPDIF input that works with my particular TV. You can also connect to it via bluetooth and use it like a bluetooth speaker. Don't expect it to fill a room but it's fine for my bedroom tv setup.
went back to get another one but OOS.
at $50 now ordered another one. well worth the price.
