4-pack is $23.99. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BBYV5JM2
Slightly cheaper per item.
Edit: 4-pack is P105, these are P125M, not sure of difference but they look pretty similar.

I set one up last night to run a fan in the barn. The outlet is a good 150ft from the router in the house. It took me less than 2 minutes to have it working.

The 4 pack isn't Matter, so they don't abide by industry standards and you'll be stuck using Google or Alexa instead of anything of your choosing

I'm using three of them and simply programmed them with the Tapo app to turn lamps on and off at set times of the day.

The problem is there is almost no smart plug both Matter and Energy Monitoring. Only Eve have one model and it is really expensive and with some limitations.

Tapo P110m, not sure what you consider really expensive but there's a 4 pack on Amazon for $45

I have a ton of smart plugs and cameras in my home, and I would love to have one much easier to use system for each of those (could be independent between cameras and plugs/devices)

I currently use Google home for one of the lights plugs, and nothing for recording for my cameras but I would love to have a home DVR type thing. I have an extra computer I can use as a server to record it needed.

Do you mind elaborating a little bit on matter? I learn much easier when people explain things to me rather than trying to have to sort through Google searches of crap and advertisements

Matter is the standard Google, Apple, Amazon, Zigbee came together so that all Matter devices will be compatible with one another. So you don't have to look for 'Works with HomeKit' or 'Works with Alexa' or whatever.

Matter is industry tech giant's answer to the popular open source smart home standard called "HomeAssistant". HomeAssistant [home-assistant.io] is the gold standard for running your own equipment, having your own schedules and a central home computer/server to act as the "brain" of your smart home.

Because industry tech giants Google, Apple, Amazon, etc failed in creating their own ecosystems because everyone needed its respective apps, accounts etc and nothing worked with across brands, they decided to work together to create the Matter standard which allowed interoperability between brands. It was introduced a couple of years ago but because it took so long, and little of their own devices were compatible, it's still a mess of compatibility of older devices vs Matter vs HomeAssistant. Instead of running your own server, using their servers, you need to buy a new device to act as a local "Matter" server - this device is called the Thread network (eg the newest Apple TV 4K can act as a Thread device for all your Matter devices but the older ones cannot).

It's still a hot mess bc the general population stopped caring about IoT and will just buy the cheapest devices (the older non-Matter devices, etc) and it can cost a lot to upgrade to all Matter capable devices. The real concern I have with Matter is when will the tech giant's see it as a waste of resources and stop investing in them which will just make the Matter network dead and falter. I'd just invest in HomeAssistant devices personally since it's free and open source.

In summary, if you don't mind tinkering with networking/routers/home servers and drilling into any bugs that may come up, or don't want to spend too much money, go with HomeAssistant. If you want a [mostly] hassle-free experience and do not mind the higher capital costs, look for investing into Thread/Matter for your smart home.
