Can't you just pop an Elite filter in and filter lead?

Using it for several years with elite filter, the only issue is that the filters run out faster than the rated months or liters.

Good timing. Dropped my pitcher recently. Had a $5 coupon for a Walmart screwups that I'd forgotten about. $15.99. Thanks for posting. Enjoy

How does this compare with the ZeroWater 5-stage dispenser?

The filter included in this purchase does not compare to a zerowater filter. You can purchase a brita elite branded filter to get similar performance and better longevity ( to a zerowater )

Or just get a cheap RO system and not worry about it.

Considering water pitchers like these turn into a fish bowl over time, how are you supposed to clean the spigot on these? Run soapy water through it, or do they detach from the unit? I like a good scrub.

**I picked one up, the spigot does screw off for cleaning. Excellent

I'd rather the spigot was detachable as snails can't clean that. The tubs are easy to clean in about 2 minutes.

It's 27-cup, even a better deal. Why did you put 18 cup int he title?

Microplastics are in everything, even if it did filter out it from water, practically everything else you consume, smell, and touch will have it.

Crazy, but the plastic water bottles are one of the biggest offenders. Take those out of your life and you remove a big amount of it. At some point they have to invent a filter that does a good job of removing them....
