i can't believe this was $172 late 2023. my frugal ass thought it would go lower. should have pulled trigger on ssd back then. smh

little did we know, that was best pricing for SSD storage.

You can partially blame it on the AI boom.

AI may have some impact, but the real driver was Samsung deciding to cut production and raise prices. IIRC, there are only 6 manufacturers in the world that produces memory chips for SSDs. With 60% market share, Samsung can make it stick. The remaining 40% fell into line.

Have a 1TB of this same drive that seems to be failing already. ~2,000 hours and less than 350GB written to it. Might be a good game drive or for non-critical storage, but I wouldn't recommend it for anything important.
