Product Description:
  • Introducing the Rogue hybrid bicycle - The Milo. Bearing the name of the Milo-Grogan neighborhood in Columbus, Ohio, home of Rogue HQ and where this bike originated, this single-speed commuter bike features a lightweight, American-made chromoly steel frame and fork, a modern belt-drive system, reliable disc brakes, and versatile urban tires for both on- and off-road adventures. In an era where most bikes are built overseas, The Milo stands out. True to Rogue principles, it embodies the best of 21st-century engineering and a commitment to quality components and craftsmanship.
  • The Chromoly frame is completed with a durable matte black powdercoat finish. This provides corrosion resistance in combination with a superior, smooth matte finish. Once finished, the head tube receives a Rogue Deuce logo badge. The Rogue Deuce has been a Rogue icon and part of the Rogue story since day one and still sits proudly on display in front of Rogue HQ to this day.
  • The Milo frame is constructed from Chromoly, or chrome molybdenum, known for its superior corrosion resistance, shock absorption, and responsiveness. Due to its excellent strength-to-weight ratio, Chromoly is widely used in industries where speed and performance are paramount. This U.S.-made Chromoly steel frame offers a responsive flex, creating a smooth and superior ride.

The Outback is designed for long-distance rides on dirt or pavement and uses an asymmetric rim design that improves spoke tension balance by up to 30%. The hand built wheel is then paired with Maxxis Hookworm 29" high-volume tires. The bead-to-bead tread on this urban tire ensures durability, traction, and balance for on and off-road cycling.

It's a good looking bike, but curious as to why anyone would ever want a single speed...
Flatlanders. That's why. Spent 2 weeks in Louisville but only had to work 3 days of it so I rented a bike and toured Louisville. (One of the best work trips ever). The bike shop guy said you don't really need gears and he was so correct. That and the coupled reliability of single speed for the win. I'd never bike the ADKs with a single speed but beach towns and such no problem.

Frame is welded because the company is too cheap to make custom lugs for brazing. Brazing reduces stress on the Cr Mo tubing. Welding thin wall tubing distorts the frame geometry.

Heavy wall Cr Mo is needed to prevent drop-thru and burn-through, even with automatic/robotic MIG welding. Downside is a much heavier frame. Adding cassette and chain for multi-speed would bump the weight closer to 28 lbs.
This is an insane take. I looked and couldn't find a single new brazed frame on the market.

Welded Cro-mo frames have been around for decades. Could be $200 for a heavy low end frame up to a couple thousand for a light high end frame.

If this is welded in the USA the frame alone is probably worth about $500, even if it's straight gauge cromo and weighs 7lb. The NS Suburban frame is like $600 and 5.5lb, more mature design with butted tubes, made overseas though.

OK... I have been corrected. Thank you.
A single-speed bike has one gear and a freewheel, allowing the rider to coast, while a fixie has one gear but lacks a freewheel, meaning the pedals are always connected to the rear wheel and the rider must pedal continuously.
I will also delete my post. Thank you for correcting me.

Why switch to belts, they going to break in the middle of your cycle. I am still sticking to chains, more reliable
Chains break too. Chains don't last nearly as long either.

This is not a fixie bike, but a single speed bike so you can coast.
Thanks, this is the info I was looking for. Tried a fixie once and … it was not fun. Coasting on this one makes it actually rideable.

I dont see any reason to buy a "USA frame" over something from Taiwan/China/Vietnam. I guess if that is a huge selling point for someone than yeah but ive been riding for years and I dont see the benefit at all.

Perhaps it is single speed to promote fitness? After all, Rogue Fitness is primarily a strength training equipment manufacturer.

Did my first ride on the bike yesterday and am really happy with it. That Gates belt drive is absolutely silent and so smooth, and it's just such a beautiful frame with gorgeous welds. Can't imagine anyone who buys this at the blow out price won't feel the same.

Was actually just considering getting an air bike, so may try this instead. Reviews don't look super promising though.
What are you reading in the reviews that you find concerning? I bought one maybe a month ago. It's definitely not a $1500 bike (original price).. $1000, you can maybe justify. $500, it's a good price. The Astral rims alone retail for $150 each, a Gates belt drive system is going to cost a few hundred. It's heavy but fun to ride. Fit and finish is good (tacky stickers aside), packaging is good, attention to details and included tools are a nice touch (cable ends are soldered although lacking caps so they can poke you but won't fray). Brakes are meh but ok for a $500 bike. Tires are heavy but feel like they can roll over anything. For the price, I'd buy it again and recommend it to anyone who would enjoy a single speed.

Gorgeous frame with top-notch American welding—but somewhere between the bench press and the boardroom, they decided a heavy single-speed steel bike was a good idea. Maybe stick to what you know: barbells and bumper plates, not bikes.
They designed it to be an urban tank, built to be abused. It fits a niche.

I feel like it was just a bad marketing idea to think slapping a rogue brand on it, people are going to buy a bike. Like people who buys bikes, goes to bike shops to ask what bike they should get or they already know what bike they want and it isn't going to be this one. So the only people who would want this are people who are loyal to the Rogue brand.
I've never used a Rogue product before, not a brand loyalist or a fitness junky. I bought it because it was a good price and checked a couple boxes I didn't hit with my other bikes.. I wanted a hybrid for short neighborhood trips, I wanted to check out a belt drive bike, I wanted a single speed to mix up my riding routine a bit.

How many manufacturers are making custom lugs or brazing steel bikes these days? Silly take. Such a bike in 2025 would cost at least $2500 new (for something like a Rivendell) and possibly double that from a boutique domestically manufactured brand. It's heavy because they didn't use butted tubing, thicker walls and because the tires weight five pounds alone. It has nothing to do with being welded. I have a 22lbs welded steel gravel bike too.
Quote from CEOofMoney View quoted comment :
At the price, would absolutely rather have a Motobecane Fantom Cross Uno for 325 at Bikes direct. Much more cost effective single speed.
I think an extra $175 is reasonable for disc brake mounts (the actual disc brakes are meh), Astral rims, Gates belt system. It's also a matter of whether someone prefers drop bar or flat bar. Nothing against the Fantom Cross Uno, as I'm sure it would be a fun bike and good beater too. But the belt drive was what sold me on giving the Rogue a chance.
Quote from SlickMarmot535 View quoted comment :
Pass, you cant even mount a rear rack, or front fender(s) (no frame mounts).
Fair criticism. I slapped a handlebar bag on mine. I would have liked rack mounts. You could always swap the fork and customize it a bit, which I wouldn't recommend if paying $1000 or more for the bike but for $500, I can justify spending on some upgrades if I find that I need them.

Belts are reliable. This is a nonsense take.

This bike has nothing to do with flat areas. It is all about a specific LIFE STYLE.
Exactly. I wouldn't ride this in Pittsburgh's Dirty Dozen but I'd ride it around any of the neighborhoods. I'm NOT riding it in a flat area although if I plan on riding for a few hours I'm grabbing a bike with multiple gears.

And even then, it's a 135mm bolt on rear hub. I don't see any reason you couldn't add a different wheel with an internally geared hub if desired and effectively have a 1x11 Shimano IGH setup.

You can build a single speed bike that is lighter and quicker, with a single front brake, and no heavy crankset or gears that'll weigh 20-30% less than a geared bike. There is a simplistic joy of just pedaling faster and harder to go faster, no gear jumps or skips. If you're in a relatively flat area to bike it's rarely an issue. If you're in a hilled area, that joy rapidly evaporates though Big Grin

i have a nashbar hounder i got maybe 15 years ago for $200, it was submerged in ocean water a few years ago, like all my other bikes, and was the first one back in service due to simple components. it might be time for an upgrade, if only for storm preparedness purposes.
