One note on this item, if you set it up via wifi, it will demand you turn on location tracking unnecessarily. Those sorts of things speak a lot about what the company thinks about your privacy and protecting your data.

Not a good thermometer for the deep freezer.

I went with Govee WiFi Hygrometer 3 sensors. It's been working great for the last 3 months. My deep freezer is in the detached garage and the main sensor is in the house 20 ft away. Always has signal and loads up within 15 seconds. It covers temps from -18 and up for me at this moment. I recommend them highly.

What makes it not good for a deep freezer?

I have several of these in action, though they do not state this I even have one of them in the refrigerator. Mine works fine though because it is a metal case (like other comment someone made o deep freezer) did not think it would work, i also have the ones with sensors on cables that probably have longer range. I have at least 60 of their sensors and controllers on my property. have several door sensors and so on for security. they by far have the best all in one reasonably prices sensors and so on. I am an engineer with a hobby of alarms.

lora wan connection on the yolink is so easy to pair, and has such amazing range.

Wish these were the outdoor ones though, or that they would have a higher contrast screen for inside

I have a few of these I need to set up, and I thought the best way to do that is to set it up using Wi-Fi and then I think to switch it to no longer use WiFi? I think that's what the manual suggests. Can you please advise?

Do you have a reason to say the Yolink won't work in a freezer? I've been very impressed with them.

I have one of these in a freezer and it's working fine. Though I'm using the Hygrometers in my other two freezers because I think they're supposed to be better for colder temperatures and batteries last longer. I guess I'll see in a few months/years? if that is the case.

This is a very good deal, considering that it also includes the essential hub. I have these sensors in almost every room of my house and even our covered porch. I also have them in two refrigerator/freezers and they work perfectly. They're already known for their extreme battery life, but I'm amazed that remains true in cold environments too.

Not saying they do or do not protect your privacy, but this is just a limitation of Android.
When requesting permission to access nearby Wi-Fi devices, older versions of Android require "ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION" permission. Android 13 finally came out with the "NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES" permission with an optional "neverForLocation" flag, but if an app developer wants their app to be able to run on older phones (or they're just used to making apps the old way and haven't changed their ways), they'll still request location permissions for Wi-Fi.

While this might be true for you it's not generally true. I have five of these. Two refrigerators/freezers and a chest freezer. They work perfectly in all cases. Battery life is unbelievable even in the cold.

The thermometer has a fixed value refreshing time(send to app) about 30 min that cannot change, or you can refresh/send value via press button on thermometer.
Really stupid design, highly not recommend!

It depends on your use case. If you need higher increments then yeah, this is not your product, but for things that need to be monitored over the long term they are an outstanding product.
