Hey noobie question. So the core is polypropylene but the surface is carbon? Is that the norm for all T300 and T700?

Yes, that's normal. You want t700 carbon fiber (more spin).

Almost all pickleball paddles are Polypropylene cores. There are a few recent models that are using all foam cores, but they are $200+ and to be honest is still a bit more on the experimental side of the technology.

Yes, it's standard for performance paddles (like our T300/T700) to use:
  1. Carbon Surface for explosive power & spin control
  2. Polypropylene Core for responsive touch & vibration dampening
But compared to other brands, this has Aerospace & Grade PP Honeycomb, which translates to 37% energy transfer.

I have no experience with either paddle, but based on specs, I would choose this over the Ascent. The Ascent has no edge guard and a hole in the paddle face, both of which will reduce the sweet spot on the paddle.

As a noobie, don't over think it.
All this tech talk, you wouldn't know the difference anyways.

These so called differences/advantages are only as good as the player, they don't automatically make you one.

If you need a paddle this will work & doesn't cost you very much.

Yes, it was, but since this is still priced lower than other competitors, it's still a better choice compared to others.

But it's always good to know price history. If it has been 25, it will likely be 25 again.
