Within the past 6 months, I've purchased a Fire HD 8 (2020) and a Kindle Paperwhite. Both were listed at Grade C. Both of them came in generic type packaging with a charger. They looked and functioned like new. Not a single blemish on the screens or bodies.
Small sample size I know, but I'm satisfied with the conditions.

Not sure if it's just me, but it looks like the Paperwhite (2021) link points to an expired sale page from April. I do see there's a new link:

That just seems wrong charging e-waste on used items.

The person who traded-in that Kindle already paid the e-waste fee for that device when he bought it new.

I can't stand tablets with out wireless charging. I kinda get it with a phone because I can go 4 days with out plugging and every night I plug it in. When I use a tablet the screen is almost always on and playing games or videos. My 2021 fire 10 last about 4 hours. thankfully I have the pro which has wireless charging.

Is this HD 10 any good? I have an older Hd 7 and it's literally crap, extremely slow
The 7s have been pretty low performing models. It's been worth it to get the 8. I had a fairly recent HD 10 and was pretty happy with it for $80 refurb from Amazon. I traded it in for a Kindle, though.

I bought one of these two years ago and it was totally unuseable. Nothing worked. I sideloaded firefox I was at least able to browse the internet so long as I limited myself to a single tab, but the loading was incredibly slow. I wouldn't attempt to use one of these for any reason. What you save in money you pay in time.
Specifics matter, what model? Anyway, what doesn't work for you, works for someone else. You get what you pay for and people should realize that.

Anyone figured out how to jailbreak these for other purposes. The screen are quite good
Yes! I did this on my old Fire tablet and disabling the bloat (and disabling Amazon's automatic software updates) made the tablet into a new creature (I say "creature" instead of "beast"... bc these are never beasts. lol.)

I got mine today. Charged it up and it does not allow the wifi to turn on. I spent 1/2 hour on Amazon help line and they tried everything they have (basically turn it on/off a few times, then turn on while holding volume up). None of that fixed it, so then they had me to a Factory Reset. Now the device is bricked. Black Screen. Will not power up. Frown
Has anyone else received a unit with bad wifi?
Does anyone have advice for a bricked unit? I suppose I need to get Woot to swap it out.

Government needs to make a profit somehow.
profit... not really but how the hell do you expect to give that 4 Trillion dollar tax break to the billionaires?

I haven't had much luck with Refurbished Amazon products regardless of the grade after a few months it starts slowing down to dial-up speed.
That is the user's fault.

Let me guess: Clear the cache… check for and install the latest available updates….reset to factory conditions.
OR maybe…. just maybe Amazon intentionally slows down its older products.

First you need to clean the tablet as much as you can, uninstall as much as you can.
You need to install the play store.
The best that I can do is I download "KillApps" and I run their free version. I usually run it three time in arrow.
You now need a good browser... and there is only one IMHO, FireFox because of the one addon "ublock origin".
You now need to use the tablet like a Chromebook. That is try not to download any apps.
Any questions? And you don't want too many tabs open at the same time.
I use to disrespect this tablet at any price but I do see a decent screen for a decent price. And all I do is stream and brows therefore this tablet would work? BUT....
Me personally, I will be buying the RedMagic Astra for $521 that comes with a 80watt charger.

Bad news: I received a device and the wifi would not work. I contacted Amazon support and they walked me through some stuff, and eventually it bricked when trying to do a factory reset.
Good news: They told me to contact woot, so i filled out the form. They contacted me on SATURDAY (I figured it wouldn't be until Monday) and said they would send me a replacement, and just keep the old one, don't bother sending it back.

So now I have a working HD10, and a bricked one. Does anyone have advice on how to UNbrick one?
