Are 4k streaming movies really even close to the 4k discs?

No. It's just the time to open the case and put in the disc and press buttons.

The resolution on digital 4K movies is essentially just a little more crisp than a (good) 1080p blu-ray, but at least you're still getting HDR/Dolby Vision. The biggest difference is in the audio. 4K blu-ray audio is significantly better. Even friends of mine who think I'm stuck up and that you can't tell the difference between all these different formats have been blown away by disc audio on a high end sound system.
