I've had this device for over 15 months and it's been a game-changer for my 120 mile RT commute to San Diego 3 days per week. I use it on a 2022 Corolla Hybrid which is one of the most compatible cars with Comma (full start/stop). I've also used it on the occasional trip up to Northern California and it's been a god-send. I occasionally use it on my wife's 2019 Pilot as well as I bought an extra harness and power supply. For a long-distance commute, it really does take the edge off of driving. I find myself arriving at home and at work so much more relaxed. The benefit of my commute is it's mostly 50 miles of open driving on the I-5. I sit in the 3rd lane at 70mph and just let it do it's thing. A bit of traffic in the Carlsbad area is easily handled and cannot recommend this device enough.

Ya this isn't a product you wait for... Every freeway mile without it could be sooo much better. I bought at $3k and not one part of me wishes I waited.

I'm sighing for you. It's an exceedingly rare day that Porsche owners can feel like they are getting a great value, but BMW went and redefined the entire landscape on sleaze with the $19/month subscription for heated seats. That are already installed. Talk about a 'kidney' (grill) punch!
BMW has been deceiving people for years with cars that appear to require constant maintenance.

Make sure you buy with a credit card that provides extended warranty. These are prone to break after 1-1.5 years of use, especially if you keep mounted on the window and the unit is exposed to heat for an extended period of time. Manufacturer warranty is only 1 year. Their support is basically nonexistent. You have to go to their discord and look for solutions that are not available.
I would never recommend this product to friends and family.

I put about 15k miles on a RAV4 with this, its very useful for highway driving. Dont kid yourself its not Tesla FSD it does make long trips much less tiresome. It takes about 10 minutes to install, you will be doing most of your own support there is a learning curve. I used Frogpilot as it gave me the most benefits. If your someone who doesnt like to tinker with stuff I would stay away, if you dont mind getting on discord and asking questions and figuring things out yourself then this is a very useful tool.
If you buy do not leave it in the sun on your window, factor in getting a magnetic quick release mount as its not exactly easy to just remove with the supplied 3d printed mount. I drive a tesla now and pay FSD and its truly amazing if I didnt then I would still own a Comma.

I don't think I've ever seen a thread so astroturfed

For real, lol. Obviously was spammed on a discord or something and then brigaded.

I don't even know why they try mass down vote, it doesn't even do anything and it's a waste of time. If you have adaptive cruise control it's already 90% of the same product. Also note how everyone only mentions highway straight line driving because this thing sucks at braking and steering. Not to mention some cars needs smartdsu to not disable safety features and some even need a smart pedal to reach acceptable functionality.

Also on some cars this disables emergency braking.

It's a very niche product that requires prying apart trim and ripping apart harnesses to install. It's more of toy and this thing will be $500 next year, if not completely dead.

There's just a lot of interest/support around comma. AFAIK comma's tech is pretty good, only Waymo and Tesla have better performance. And they are the only retrofit self-driving device available on the market.

Installation isn't a wall in a park, but it's just about as difficult to install as a dashcam, so it's not that niche of a product.

And they open source their software and are happy to promote companies that build competing hardware so they have built up a lot of goodwill.

I've been using this device for 6 years. I started with the Comma2, and upgraded to the Comma3.

It's primarily in my Rav4, but I have an additional harness/mount in my Wife's Camry.

Long story short, I hate driving without it. The setup really makes long drives a pleasure.

When I first installed it in my car, my Wife was scared when I used it. Now, she insists I put it in her car when she takes her periodic two state trips to see the grand kids.

This is the lowest price I've ever seen it. If you're on the fence, now is the time for the 30 day demo. I'll bet you keep it.

Search the reddit thousands of complaints of it dying after a year. They need to offer extended warranty or design a new unit with a remote mounted camera.

THIS! Also, use Paypal as another layer of protection.
I ordered one during the BF sale. UPS claimed to have delivered but it never arrived. Had to reach out to Comma support. At first they told me that I would have to wait a week to make sure UPS attempts delivery even though I paid for 2 day delivery. I waited.
9 days after my order I contacted them again. I asked them for proof of delivery, they provided a copy of a signature which was literally just a smily face. No photos of delivery location. I told them clearly that signature is bogus and to fight UPS to cover the loss. They refused and basically told me that UPS's word is God and that there was nothing they could do.
I asked if there was some other way to use the device itself to track location. They didn't answer the question. I insisted and they proceeded to ask for Year, Make, Model of my car. I complied. Then they asked for a picture of the VIN from my car. I complied. Then they asked for a copy of my registration and title. At this point it is almost a month after I placed the order. And sending a copy of title is a big risk IMHO. So I decided to open a case with Paypal. Eventually Paypal sided with me and refunded my $1200. But now I'm afraid of going through that process again. Lesson: Remember to cover yourself for such a large purchase.

comparing comma ai with Tesla's FSD is very misleading. Given how poorly Tesla's FSD acts at times, I'm not sure if it really worths spending so much money just to get a better ADAS than what my car already has.
Can your car's ADAS offer complete/full functionality on any road including single lane (in each direction) urban streets, allow cruise control at any speed above 0 mph, not nag you even once to keep your hands on the steering wheel, warn you to take control of the steering wheel when your car's ADAS is unable to keep your vehicle within the lane while taking a sweeping curve at 70+ mph? It should be pointed out that most (i.e., anything other than Tesla's FSD) other vehicle manufacturer HDA/ADAS systems will not completely function on surface streets--e.g., GM's Super Cruise works only on freeways/limited-access highways, whereas I have used my C3X on 2-lane backroads...and oh BTW Super Cruise is subscription-based (i.e., not free) after the first 3 years; Ford's BlueCruise is not free after the complimentary trial period either, and according to the map BlueCruise road coverage is even more limited cpmpared to what's available with Super Cruise which again, is itself limited in coverage when compared to the vast number/type of roads the C3X is capable of functioning on.

Is the C3X perfect? No, but IMHO it does a very good job overall of supplementing the HDA features on my Kia EV6. Put it this way--I bought my C3X back in 2024 for $1250 + $200 for the harness + $25 for standard shipping, totaling $1475 (not including sales tax) and I still don't regret having paid that much for mine. At $898 with free shipping, it's a no-brainer purchase IMHO if you have a compatible vehicle.

I purchased a third-party magnetic mount so that I can easily unmount mine from the windshield, in part to help minimize exposure of it to high temps while my vehicle is parked.

Have you seen how people drive!?
I don't want people flying around with jetpacks without this, so they better make one for jetpacks!
