These are great if you use a laptop as a desktop replacement. I have an Anker hub where I can set my laptop down and plug in a single USB-C cable. Connects my laptop not only to my two monitors, but my mouse and full size keyboard all while charging the laptop since the docking station is connected to a 100W charger and passes through 85W to the laptop which can accept up to 100W through the USB-C port.

Check your DisplayPort version before ordering. You'll need 1.4 to get 3 external monitors.

Remember how USBC promised daisy chaining multiple monitors (and other peripherals) together using a single USBC connection? what happened to that promise?

From AI: USB-C as a connector can support daisy chaining of monitors, but only when paired with DisplayPort MST or Thunderbolt technology—and most consumer hardware does not fully support this out of the box. The original promise was only partially fulfilled, and the experience remains inconsistent for most users.

Some of the Dell Ultrasharps do it very well but it is not cheap

I cant believe its 2025 and the MST is still not widespread, I bet you it's exuberant licensing fee from Displayport that none of the Chinese manufacturers are willing to pay, unless its a crazy overpriced monitor.

Now we are stuck running 3 THICK cables from this monster box to our monitors.

I'd been tracking several docks for a few weeks and this arrived yesterday. It does what I was looking for: three monitors and all peripherals through one USB-C connection. It does support MST and DSC, as suspected, but I couldn't find it explicitly stated anywhere before.

It's moderately sized and meant to sit on the desk. The base can pop off and it could instead be mounted and hidden on the back of a desk. None of my monitors support DSC, but that does not matter when using a dock and GPU that can. I currently am running one 4k@60Hz, one 2k@120Hz, and one 2k@75Hz through the dock.

Do you run your monitors through this docking station or directly wire them to the graphics card?

Does it do dp alt via c?
It does. That's how it does MST. Pay attention to its bandwidth if you're using multiple high resolution screens.

Three monitors, four usb peripherals (keyboard, mouse, webcam, speakers) all plugged directly into the docking station. The docking station then runs a single usb-c into my laptop. The laptop's charging brick and the dock's usb-c cable are the only things plugged into my laptop.

So this does not support 8K at 60Hz? (I ask for a 5K monitor actually). What specs would it need to support that?
Also looks like Ethernet is just 1G. Wish it was 2.5G
Is there a later version of this that supports the most up to date specs?

Having tried a few docks that were 10gbps to drive the 57" odyssey (8k wide) i would bet the answer is no. The specs here call out 4k/60hz so at the very least anything beyond that would sacrifice 60hz to achieve. Instead of shelling out $200 for a 'up to date' hub that supports 8k properly i ended up just going with two usb-c cables, one to drive a hub/power and the other to drive the display directly. Its not perfectly ergonomic, but it performs and the 8k USB-C/hdmi cable was only $20.

I know that I can use 2 monitors for my MacBook with this, but will I be able to hook up my PC to this, and use the 2 monitors and mice/keyboard as well. Thinking this should work or should I just buy a DP/HDMI switch?
