Victoria cast iron is great, what isn't is cleaning a grill pan. These are best for hanging on a wall, as you will soon find out that these will take more time cleaning than cooking. I have one, its a decoration now.

Yup I didn't realize what a PIA these things are to clean when I hot mine. I hardly use it for that reason.

Id chime in to say that the i have both a square with grill marks and a smooth circular lodge pans and i use the smooth one way more. I cook steak mostly with the cast iron pans. The grill mark ones are a bit annoying to cleaning and i learned i dont care for grill marks.

I have one of these, and they're awesome for indoor grilling. My pro tip is to use one of those small scrub brushes with the bamboo handle and bristles with some warm/hot water while pan is still hot to scrub between the cast iron grids in pan.

Dumb product, regret purchasing. Doesn't "grill", as you're not imparting the taste of smoke or a direct-heat sear. So what are you getting? Imitation "grill marks," so really just half as much Maillard searing versus just using a cast iron pan.

I was young, inexperienced cook. This is still a hunk of metal in the bottom of some cabinet.

This is my least used CI pan, not because it isn't great, but just because it's only has a couple of uses for me.

It's good for anything you want to suspend above the grease (baked chicken, kielbasa, turkey meatballs). For steaks and such, regular cast iron gives a better sear.

Not worth it IMO, you don't really gain much cooking advantage with a grill pan....aside from the visual marks. Personally, if I want grill marks I'll cook on the barbie.

These grill pans are all awful. I wish companies would stop making them. They're a massive pain to clean and you don't get the nice Maillard reaction to brown the whole surface of the meat.

Even with the specially grooved cleaning tool, these are a nightmare to clean.

Grill pans are awful to use, awful to clean, and are awful at cooking and nothing close to grilling. All around a waste of money.

Well, the raised grilling area does cause the item you're grilling not to grill as much in its own grease vs a flat pan. Also, sure, you can just cook outside, but (just one ex) when it's 20 degrees outside in the winter or pouring down rain in the summer, it may just be more convenient to use your grill pan.
