How would you mount a flexible panel like this on a roof? What kind of wind would it be able to handle?
Don't use flexiable panels on a house roof. There's not much point and some serious downsides.

ahh, did not know this -- what would you say are some better home use cases for these?

Can this used to charge an EV - it only has AC charge port available - making it a pain?
What extra accessories available commercially ?

The price isn't really that amazing because it has been $45-55 for a while on eBay

I have one and it clocks over 100w and that is really good compared to many other Chinese flexible panels I got which they can't even break 50% of advertised spec. Avoid Werchetai panels on eBay... they get 45w out of 100w.

Kinda new to solar, have some basic understanding but hoping someone can answer a question, can I buy a cable adapter to use these with a Jackery 1000 V2 considering the connectors are different?

I wonder if I could put them on the roof of my Prius Prime for a slow charge. I drive about 10 miles a week and purely in EV mode.

Newbie question. How long do these panels last? Do they degrade like batteries?Answering myself from GPT:Typical lifespan of solar panels:
  • 25 to 30 years is standard.
  • Most panels still produce 80–90% of their original capacity after 25 years.
📉 Degradation rate:
  • On average, solar panels lose about 0.5% to 0.8% efficiency per year.
  • After 25 years, a panel rated at 100W might still produce about 85W–88W.

Crap in crap out with GPT. You need to give it the specs of your panel. I would not touch a flex panel that is not ETFE. These are PET panels and could have 50% reduced output in less than a year possibly.

I work in the solar panel industry. In general I am very bullish on the widespread adoption of solar modules.

However, my opinion is that these are total junk. Flexible panels made with Si are just asking for trouble--the panels will flex with wind/weather/handling and crack with even the slightest load. The plastic/fiberglass module itself may look and feel intact but the underlying Si used is extremely fragile and prone to cracking, which may not be obvious to the naked eye.

To the people asking about expected lifetimes...I would not expect more than a few months. Once the cracks start to occur you will see dropping Isc (current will drop permanently, and as a result, lower power or wattage) as the micro cracks propagate. This is going to happen much sooner than the natural degradation.

To the people asking about applications...at a minimum you will need an adapter for the included MC4 connectors. But I would not risk charging anything other than a battery bank. This amount of current and power output can still be extremely dangerous. You will need more panels to charge anything substantial (like an EV battery for example).

Save yourself some time, money, and effort by at least buying a solar module mounted on a glass substrate and supported by a metal frame. Yes, it's heavier but it's much much more likely to do its job.

it depends on how they're installed and how they're treated, if you store them flat or Mount them so they stay flat and don't overheat 10 years maybe longer is reasonable. if you're rolling them up to store them or they're flexing a lot lifetime could be months to years.

Not enough power unfortunately. Your EV battery pack is thousands of kilowatts, like 10,000 plus, these are less then a quarter of 1,000. If a regular wall outlet takes 2 days to charge and EV these 2 panels would take months. Now as a trickle charge to keep the battery topped off, maybe? But certainly not worth all the adapters and wiring involved.

They are designed to be mounted on RVs and stuff. Being lightweight helps in that scenario, whereas it's not important on your house.

But how easy is to connect these panels to the EV?
What additional electronics readily available to facilitate?
Most EVs are AC only- so need an inverter? Is there a portable converter?
