I remember I also saw $19.99 for Kirkland brand filters for the Brita container.

The most recent sale was exactly that— $10 off the 10 pack of the basic filters (the ones requiring changing every two months). The OP post is for Brita plus, which is a superior filter (that lasts for 6 months) at a lower per-unit price than Costco's. The Brita Elite is next higher up in the product line.
I just bought the Costco 10-pack and it will go back.

What are the other differences between those pictures and the brita pitchers? And do these brita filters work with those pitchers too?
While both Brita Elite and Brita Plus filters are designed to improve water taste and reduce contaminants, they differ in their filtration capabilities. The Brita Elite filter is generally known for its longer lifespan, reducing the need for frequent changes. However, some users have reported that the Elite filter can sometimes have fitting issues, leading to water bypassing the filter. Brita Plus filters, while potentially needing more frequent replacement, are often favored for their perceived better filtration performance and taste improvement in some user reviews.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Brita Elite:
Pros: Longer filter life, potentially fewer replacements needed, reduces lead and other contaminants.
Cons: Some users have experienced fitting issues, potentially leading to water bypassing the filter and not being properly filtered.
Key Feature: Designed to reduce lead, chlorine, and other contaminants.
Brita Plus (Standard):
Pros: Some users find they filter water better than the Elite filters.
Cons: May require more frequent replacement.
Key Feature: Activated carbon filters out chlorine and improves taste.
Effectiveness Differences:
Lab Testing: One video review found that Elite filters reduced uranium by 26% while Plus filters reduced it by 80%.
Taste: Some users have reported a better taste with Plus filters.
Other Contaminants: Both filters are not effective at removing fluoride.
Specific Substances: Plus filters may perform better at removing some substances, like uranium and strontium, than Elite filters, while Elite filters may be more effective at reducing barium.
The 6 month filters claim to filter out more contaminants as well including lead if that factors in as well.
