I have , have bought 15 rokus, 3 roku tvs, roku streambars. 3 cameras, over the 15 years with ROKU. 99% of watching TV is clicking on Roku. 7 days/364.
"FREE" on Roku means ad torture, but no problem, i only watch YTube premium, a no ad movie channel.

I have been very very very happy with Roku but Roku recently experimented with video ADs BEFORE the Roku home screen. Roku is ad crazy so i can see Roku following though with video ads BEFORE the home page loads. I would divorce Roku immediately.
I am putting buying anything from Roku 'on hold'.

I just replaced all my Roku streamers with $30.00 Walmart Onn 4K Plus models. So far so good.

What I want is radio and TV streaming with real broadcast ads, pickup trucks, sneakers, jeans, toothpaste, etc, that are not all replaced by Ad Council PSAs.

Are the remotes still impossible to pair or is that long solved?

I bought one of these as I used to be a fan of Roku. I kept having handshake issues and would get blue screens. I tried changing cables, etc. It was so annoying. I took it back. Went back to using my TVs software and a cheaper Roku stick. Then one day I got an Apple TV. Apple TV smokes a Roku every day of the week.

Good synopsis, I only watch ad free on Roku and it is great but if they are going to start this then I'll divorce them too and move to apple

I have both and the Apple TV I use on my main TV and it is way more flakey then this Roku. Old Roku's you might have a point but I'm debating on ditching the Apple TV for another one of these. Some apps are flakey on there and every morning when I go into youtubeTV it tells me my Apple TV is no longer connected to my network and I have to reset. Mine you that only takes maybe 15 seconds but still a PIA for a $170 box

Been using Rokus since 2010. No issues. Only thing that Roku doesn't have for me, is to easily navigate through captive portals (i.e. the acceptance website) such as in a hotel and VPN apps. For that and travel, I use an Amazon FireTV stick. Although, I must say the Amazon home screen is a mess.

How much better is the Ultra than the Streaming Sticks? The biggest perks I'm seeing is one less thing on the WiFi and the rechargeable remote.
