Available from:About this book:
  • This is the first book of the Red Rising Saga (6 book series).
  • Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations. Yet he toils willingly, trusting that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.
  • But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and lush wilds spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.
  • Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity's overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society's ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies . . . even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

Great series, I'm a couple chapters away from finishing the last book (Morning Star) in the trilogy (I know there's a couple more though).

I couldnt get through the first book. Hunger Games ripoff drivel. The writing is adequate. Be aware though, many many of the series supporters claim the first book was intentionally written that way to get published and the series takes a much better turn after the first book. I didnt wanna waste the time to find out.

Yes…and Hunger Games was derived from Battle Royale.

I don't disagree with the Hunger Games reference. But I'm sure other books do the same thing. come to think of it, the first book of the Wheel of Time reminded me of the Lord of the Rings.

You are correct in that the first book is not quite indicative of the quality of the subsequent books, but it is by no means "drivel". It is a fairly short, easy read that sets the stage for an incredible series

I finished the first 3 books a couple days ago. The first book was slow to start, with a lot of set-up for the MC & his situation. Then the story took off and was great IMO.
I'm finding the 1st book, of the 2nd series of books, to be similar. There is a lot of set-up for the first 1/4th of the book and now it's starting to take off. Hopefully these 3 books, and the one in 2026, are just as good as the first 3.

Made it three books into this series and then became disinterested. First couple were good though. But by the end of Morning Star it started to feel like things were stretched out just to sell more books.
