Got a sweetheart deal on a 9th gen AMD version of this.

Hinges are solid so far. Performance is solid. Screen is decent. Wi-fi is not solid, it drops a fair amount, usually only for 30 seconds or so, but it is annoying as hell when it happens.

It's big, using it in tablet mode? Possible, but not for extended periods.

Power button is on the side, and is engineered extremely poorly. You will accidentally hit it when moving the computer. It will annoy you. It pushes down at a different angle than the actual button is located on the motherboard, so there's a piece of plastic that the power button is attached to at a 90 degree angle which actually engages the switch on the motherboard.

This piece of plastic is a known failure point. If it fails, you have no power button. Luckily, there is a "flip open to power up" option, which I strongly advise anybody to engage immediately.

For what I paid ($224), this is a no-brainer. For $700? Not quite as sure.

Thoughts on this one versus other 2 in 1s? Would be my 8 year old's first laptop. Required for school...

It's a good computer but it is quite heavy. Requiring an 8 year old to have a laptop is pretty wild tbh.

How are the hinges on these 2 in 1 laptops? I have never owned a laptop that extended beyond 180° degree and would like to know how it is holding up over time compared to any normal laptop?

I got the 14" 8gb/512gb deal a few months ago that I saw on here, and I have absolutely been loving it for my daily use and when I travel. Definitely considering getting this one for more intensive tasks.

I own a couple yoga. Non have broken but the best practice is not to go into tablet mode often and try to open from the center screen.

what are the requirements? i wouldn't make an 8 year old carry around a 4lb laptop.. get an ultra light one in the 2-3lb range and like a smaller 13" so it can fit in a backpack atleast..

Disagree. Mine croaked after less than 3 years, the motherboard was giving me trouble for a year before it finally died
