Maltodextrin is a carbohydrate commonly used as a food additive. It's made by processing starches from sources like corn, rice, or potatoes.
While the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) generally regards maltodextrin as safe, there are some potential drawbacks to consider:
High Glycemic Index: Maltodextrin has a high glycemic index (GI), which means it can rapidly increase blood sugar levels. This can be particularly concerning for individuals with diabetes or insulin resistance.
Potential Impact on Gut Health: Some research suggests that maltodextrin may negatively affect the balance of bacteria in the gut, potentially increasing the risk of inflammatory bowel disease (IBD).
Possible Gastrointestinal Issues: Some people experience digestive discomfort like bloating, gas, and diarrhea after consuming maltodextrin, especially those with conditions like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
Limited Nutritional Value: Maltodextrin primarily provides calories and a quick source of energy without significant nutritional benefit.

I also saw no coupon at the penut butter one, but reread the deal here and switched to cookies and cream and it was there. I've never bought any of them. +rep
I'd also note the product is not rBST-free, other words hormone use for the cows. That's a big no from me, I won't settle for low quality, hormone fed cow milk product any more!
Its so unnecessary that its just stupid to add it. Which breaks my trust on all the other ingredients
agree - its a needless filler. if you look at other known brands, no maltodextrin but they usually come at a premium. also, the protein content is not great in my opinion (66% - 30g/45g).

These cheap protein powders all suffer from awful fillers and sub-70% protein content.
Cost per protein remains largely the same as a result.
