I have an existing solar system that produces 27 kWH/ day. I want to maximize self consumption and shift my usage to midnight -6 AM where my rate is 12¢.how hard is it to do AC coupling with the system. I'm fairly handy

Through the solar port if the solar port can take the max voltage of the batteries (which is actually 58.4V at full charge, NOT 48V). You can buy a cheap adapter on eBay for whatever type of port it is.

Note that you'd need a separate charger too. Solar port is only good for discharging the batteries.

Not hard, but you need permits, a contract with the power company, etc

So its something you may want a professional to do since they already are familar with all the process and will ensure it wont get shut down.

Especially with the tax credit going away, if you do it yourself and take to long to get it running you may lose that credit, and that would easily have paid for someone to help with a larger system.
