I bought these last month at BJs for $179 to be used primarily as hearing aids. To all of you old folks out there like me (69yr) that have hearing loss this is a great deal. Lot's of airpod hearing aid options in your iPhone. You can scan an existing hearing report or take a hearing test on your iPhone and it will automatically configure your airpods based on your hearing loss. These are FDA certified as OTC hearing aids. They work great when listening to music and answering calls if you have hearing loss. The transition from hearing aid and earbuds is seemless. Some reviews on Amazon indicated these were better than some prescription hearing aids costing thousands of dollars. If you don't like them as hearing aids you can still use them as regular earbuds.

Same thing just started happening to me a couple of days ago! Only happens when I use transparency or noise canceling. I'm debating whether to get these or wait for a possible Pro 3

The exact same thing happened to me. I now use only one AirPod. I'm not sure if Apple is doing this through a software update to encourage people to buy new ones.
It's too late for a replacement now, but there was actually a recall for this issue:

Personally, I'm hesitant to buy the Pro 2's right now given the rumors the Pro 3's might come out this fall. Not because of the features, but because they'll nerf the 2's via software like the did the 1's when the 2 came out.

It should have been a recall. Instead it was basically just a poorly advertised extended warranty for a manufacturing defect.

I have two Gen 1 Pros with this issue but it didn't become bad until just after the 3 year mark of ownership (both left pod too unfortunately).

Do agree on your second point. Could easily see this lower on BF if Gen 3s are announced in the fall.

Geez…old news:

Apple has determined that a small percentage of AirPods Pro may experience sound issues. Affected units were manufactured before October 2020
