I bought these last month at BJs for $179 to be used primarily as hearing aids. To all of you old folks out there like me (69yr) that have hearing loss this is a great deal. Lot's of airpod hearing aid options in your iPhone. You can scan an existing hearing report or take a hearing test on your iPhone and it will automatically configure your airpods based on your hearing loss. These are FDA certified as OTC hearing aids. They work great when listening to music and answering calls if you have hearing loss. The transition from hearing aid and earbuds is seemless. Some reviews on Amazon indicated these were better than some prescription hearing aids costing thousands of dollars. If you don't like them as hearing aids you can still use them as regular earbuds.

Same thing just started happening to me a couple of days ago! Only happens when I use transparency or noise canceling. I'm debating whether to get these or wait for a possible Pro 3
This suggests to wait https://buyersguide.macrumors.com/#AirPods-Pro

There was actually a notice about this from Apple. They replaced mine for the same reason after about a year. https://support.apple.com/airpods...und-issues

Just got 1. Thank you, OP! They are also offering a discount on Apple Care+. It is $27$, bringing the total with Apple Care+ to $176 ($149+$27) before taxes, cheaper than the Costco Deal. https://a.co/d/bsZgMmR

Can anyone stop me from buying extra pair since warranty starts when you activate. Since mines is about 3/4 yrs old I am buying as backup incase I loose it or dropped it too much when running. How will the battery hold up?

AppleCare plus stars when you activate the device correct? Also, how long is AppleCare plus for?

The coverage starts on the date of purchase of the Apple Care+ policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/sales...k_ipid.pdf The Apple Care+ offered in the link in my original comment is for two years.

If anyone would rather buy through Costco, they're $179.99 with Apple Care+ included for members only

The ANC noise cancellation is way less effective than even the base level of the newer Airpods 4.

I was super disappointed by this, because I have 2 pairs of the Pro 2's, and I tried my friend's AirPods 4 on an airplane and they were more comfortable and worked better in every way, and the Airpod 4 only costs about half the price at $89.

Best wishes to all of you, SDers!

Thanks for the compare. Helpfull. Unfortunately or fortunately, I just bought this one.

Edit question: Are there two AirPods 4 versions, one with NC and one without?

I bought through Costco at $179 including AppleCare. If the Pro 3's are released in September, I'll return the Pro 2's.

This. I've got a range of less expensive earbuds for various tasks like yard work where that device is cheap enough I don't worry about loss/damage. They all work fine.

But when Apple released the FDA Over the Counter hearing assistance feature for AirPod Pro 2, I was in. According to the guided initial hearing test you do to tune the AirPods, I don't really have hearing loss per se… however, I have great difficulty discerning conversations in noisy environments like restaurants or parties. The AirPod Pro 2 does not perfectly address the issue, but it definitely helps. Well worth the $165 I spent.

As an aside, AirPods seem to be far more adept (as we'd expect) at jumping from Apple device to Apple device (phone/ipad/MacBook) with minimal force-swapping.
