I bought these last month at BJs for $179 to be used primarily as hearing aids. To all of you old folks out there like me (69yr) that have hearing loss this is a great deal. Lot's of airpod hearing aid options in your iPhone. You can scan an existing hearing report or take a hearing test on your iPhone and it will automatically configure your airpods based on your hearing loss. These are FDA certified as OTC hearing aids. They work great when listening to music and answering calls if you have hearing loss. The transition from hearing aid and earbuds is seemless. Some reviews on Amazon indicated these were better than some prescription hearing aids costing thousands of dollars. If you don't like them as hearing aids you can still use them as regular earbuds.
My gen1 Pro literally just started having static issues in the left bud a month or so ago. I'm annoyed by it as I'm not a heavy user of these in general. Mainly for when I travel. After some Googling, the static seems to be a pretty common issue. Lame on Apple's part knowing this is a defect and not fixing the issue.
If I turn off the noise cancellation or transparency modes, then the static goes away. But at that point they're just dumb wireless airbuds.
The question now is to get the Pro2 or the 4 ANC?
Pro2 will be better NC due to the sealing of the ear canal. But also more discomfort when wearing them for long periods. This also has the hearing aid feature which I could use. But I don't want to be one of those people with a bud in my ear all the time looking like I'm important while talking to others.
Or the 4 ANC? Still has noise cancelling but not as good as the Pros. Which may be important on airplanes.

What to do? Is there a 3rd option?
If you can hold out a few more months til the Pro 3 is released, that might be best. The past few days I too was also juggling between getting the 4 ANC or the Pro 2 (I currently am still on Pro 1 since late 2020, it's still working fine for me other than dwindling battery life). If I were to get one now, I'd lean toward the Pro 2 at $149, but still, I'd rather hold out and see what the Pro 3 brings and worst case scenario, can just get Pro 2 again at $149 (or even lower) this Black Friday/Cyber Monday.
I don't trust amazon because they can sell fakes. Would costco make more sense? 3 months to return, apple care. Just in time to see if the new ones in sept are worth upgrading to? I too have a pro 1 that has a cracking issue. Apple refused to acknowledge it and I would have to pay around $150 for a replacement bud. Doesn't make sen.se

I also have a Pro 1 with static issues and weak batter. I went ahead and ordered a Pro 2. I'm sure the Pro 3 will be great, but it is also going to be $249 minimum and I'm not waiting 4 months to maybe save $10 more on the Pro 2.

Be careful buying these from Amazon. I bought from this deal and the AirPods were already named. To boot, they were named "Sexy's Airpods Pro". I was shocked when that popped up. On one hand it's pretty funny, but on the other it's disappointing getting a brand new product and it already being named - thereby likely not being new.
Edit: Turns out these aren't coming from Amazon. If you look on your order, it says "Sold by: Amazon.com. Supplied by: other." SHADY AF.
Rep alleges supplier is Apple tho. Hmm.

I am always afraid to buy Apple products from amazon due to all these resellers selling fake/refurbished products. Airpods pro have ton of fake one in market.
This on says sold and shipped by Apple. Is it safe to buy?
I still don't understand the apple frenzy..i bought both pro and pro 2 at full price..both of them started showing issues (high pitch noise) right after one year..better to buy at Costco as it includes one extra year warranty

To me, despite having enough Amazon gift credit in my account, it's simply not worth risking getting AirPods from Amazon, even if "shipped and sold by" Amazon. Walmart currently also has it for the same $149 price; I'd recommend buying them either in store or placing an order for in-store pickup, since they're kept away locked up and in shipments directly from the manufacturer (Apple). Alternatively, you can do the same with Target, by price-matching Walmart or Amazon. Moral of the story, for AirPods, get them from an actual physical in-store location.

I price matched Best Buy cause I trust them. Amazon gave me $15 promo credit as apology for receiving Airpods Pro 2 named "Sexy's Airpods Pro". Another thing that sucks is the ONLY option you get for return with these is UPS pickup.
