Also, $519.99 for the DXP 4800+. OS is not mature but they are consistently making updates. It is perfect for my home use. They have several native applications, but I use Docker for most everything. Incredibly good designed hardware and it's very stable. Price is only going to keep rising on UG hardware as they gain market share.

Please note that warranty purchase seems to only apply if purchase directly from ugreen.

This definitely has me concerned because I'm thinking about buying a UGREEN NAS. So, are you sure about this? Their web page says warranty applies when purchased from authorized resellers, and UGREEN themselves sell the products being sold on Amazon.

The experience of those on the reddit thread isn't good, but as far as warranty goes, Amazon purchases look to be covered.

https://nas.ugreen.com/pages/warranty is the correct warranty page. I'm assuming Amazon is covered under their authorized resellers, especially considering they directly sell it through Amazon.

I'm a &Ugreen reseller with a direct relationship. The warranty is valid from any authorized dealer.

I'm currently copying data from a Synology DS1520+ to the DXP4800 I got late last week in combination with a WD sale on 20TB drives ($350 apiece).

It's pretty obvious UGOS is an attempted clone of the Synology OS, and I think that's a good thing since the latter is great. UGOS is definitely less mature (small UI annoyance, fewer options for app/system behavior, etc.), but it's fine for my simple purpose: acting as redundant back-end storage for my Shield/Kodi setup. It seems to be normal for other people to load other OSs on UGREEN NASs, but I work in enterprise IT as a career, so I just want things to be simple and work at home, so I'm sticking with UGOS.

The storage setup was very simple, and the user/access management is basically the same as Synology, so I have no complaints, especially for <$500. Looking forward to continued refinement of UGOS.

UGreen NAS user be aware: There is a thread on reddit that showed this a few months ago:
"xxxxxx /r/UgreenNASync/comments/1jf8yyn/i_received_a_subsidy_from_the_chinese_government/"
where they showed someone who " bought a 4800plus in China and was able to get a 15% discount from the Chinese government. I bought a brand new 4800plus for $304."

Why do you think the government of China would subsidize a NAS product and why is that the box is so chatty that it routinely contacts servers in China and Russia?
Synology, QNAP, Asustor, etc are Taiwanese based. UGREEN is based in Shenzhen, Guangdong in Mainland China. Taiwan is the 8th most democratic country in the world and has strict privacy laws, far ahead of USA at number 30, and way ahead of China which has no elections.

I mean, instead of just assuming some paranoid nonsense rooted in racism, you could... not do that.

Early this year China expanded a subsidy (which applies to both foreign and domestic brands [gov.cn]) where residents could purchase one item in each of a few categories and get a subsidy of 15% of the price.

The intent of this policy is to encourage and increase domestic (ie, in China) consumption. The person who posted that failed to mention they needed a CCCP citizen number to get the subsidy. He does suggest that the easiest way is to find a Chinese student to help you buy lollll
