Go with this... it's main disadvantages vs Air/Pro models is the non-laminated screen and only Pencil Gen1 support which kids will not notice. It has superior battery life and performance vs older Air models and I wouldnt even consider a $100-150 cheapo Android/Fire tablet as the parental controls and quality of apps on Android do not compare for children. I say this as someone who uses a Pixel phone and Lenovo Y700 tablet.

Toddler? If you don't need YouTube an Amazon fire 7" or 8" tablet and a kid friendly case for less than $20.
