If you value your productivity then I strongly advise against playing this game. I bought it on my phone and now Jimbo follows me everywhere I go: at work, at venues waiting for a concert, on the toilet, etc.
(Seriously though, I've been hooked on it since February and I can't put the game down. I paid for it on Android and on Switch and I'd happily pay full price for it again.)

What so special about this? I tried it and it's just poker? No idea why it's so popular.
Poker as Roguelite.
I tried it because it was free on PS+ some months back. I, too, thought it was a ridiculous concept, and it should be no more addictive than Solitaire was on Windows PC's of old.
definitely not Just Poker. it's a rogue-like deckbuilder that uses Poker as the shell, so you can jump right in without having to learn much. but the actual gameplay very quickly turns into something else.
Is Balatro a good game? Yes. But is it a great game? Also yes. But should you play it on a console? Probably not, get it on your phone instead, it's one of the best phone games ever.
This is like the one game that makes more sense to pay $10 for on your phone than $20 as a disc that needs swapping
Playing it on Xbox on the main TV works well for me because I'm limited to how long I can play, the family will start bugging. If I put this on my phone, I'm gone.
As a hold'em player, I cannot get behind this game. It throws out age old mantra's like "don't chase a xxxxx" - The game is just chasing cards, and watching it pay off. I want to just throw a brick through my screen when I play this.

completely agree. this is a quick way to kill sometime while waiting.
I played this game quite a bit maybe around 30 hours or so. 99% of the time you're chasing after the flush. of course it depends on the deck and jokers you have but i say 80% of time, you're chasing the flush. Feels that it should somehow balance it to play other strategy.

this is so much smoother on a touch screen or tablet
using buttons can get very tedious on runs
