Same here. I had no idea. The 3rd party don't have the UWB precision, so if you are searching for the keys or the wallet, the original ones might be better. But if you wonder where the suitcase or the dog is or where you parked the car, this should be good enough. ;-)

Not needed in many cases for larger items. Remember the remote position from AirTags comes from a phone that walks by, not via GPS. The UWB only makes sense when you try to find small things nearby you. (keys, wallets, AirPods, etc.)
