3 year old cpu
The Intel Core i7-14700HX launched in January, 2024. Not even 18 months old yet.

That being said, this is MSRP. No idea why it was posted as a deal.

The i7-14700HX is practically identical to the Core i7-13850HX, so it's effectively a 2.5 year old CPU.That is still plenty of CPU performance to keep up with the RTX 5070 in gaming, but the battery life will suffer compared to more modern CPU architectures.

It's expandable up to 192GB, if they ever make 92GB memory modules.https://www.intel.com/content/www...tions.html

I think you can say the same about literally all processors if you can pick and choose the comparison to any prior generation chip. That's like saying my 2025 car is 3 years old because it doesn't have a lot of differences to the 2022 model. Regardless, it's not 3 years old.

Nope, in this case it is literally the same chip. Same architecture, same generation, same manufacturing node, same memory controller, same iGPU, same cache, same cores. Intel only changed two things: they slightly increased the maximum boost clock, and bumped the model number to 14700. Intel had planned to launch Arrow lake CPUs by late 2023, but they couldn't get the chip manufacturing issues worked out in time. So they slapped new labels on their 13th Gen chips and hoped nobody would notice.

Again, my previous statement applies. Its really semantics more than anything. But again, I can have a 2025 model of a car that is literally the exact same as the 2022 model, same engine, same base, looks the same, with a few very minor details that are more for show than anything else. But you can't say my 2025 model is 3 years old because of that. It's factually incorrect. It's a perfect analogy to this. You can complain that the chip is virtually the same as an older one. But you can't just say a chip that is 1 year old is 3 years old because it's too similar to a 3 year old chip.
