Breville definitely has the name and reputation, but I did see a review between both machines, they are similar, even down to the grinder components. The only real feature the Breville gains is that it does have a dedicated heater for the water so if you wanted to make an Americano or have hot water for tea, you have that option (that's what Ninja has added to the new pro series). But other than that, the ninja actually has more features (such as a built-in scale for weight based dosing) and is more in line with the Breville Impress which is the model above the one you linked and about $200 more.

With that said, I have the Breville barista express, and I definitely like it, but I just ordered this one (if for some reason, it doesn't cut the mustard, I'll just return it and keep my Breville). Primarily because I like the way the steam wand and milk frother are hands off if I want. I make a lot of lattes and the steam wand on the Breville can get pretty messy, trying to get the milk to froth up. The he ninja actually has an auto clean steam wand sequence which I think I'm going to love (and it also does cold foam). The other thing I like is that you can actually make more than one cup of coffee at a time which you cannot do on the Breville and that's gonna be great when I have guests who just want drip coffee without requiring me to use a completely different machine. Finally, the other future I think I'm gonna look on the ninja is that it has a low water feature, I can't tell you how many times I'm in the middle of making a latte and realized I forgot to check the water level on my Breville. It really doesn't harm anything, but it just adds more steps that I could've avoided had I looked around the back and saw the water level. I kinda like the fact that ninja has a "idiot" light to prevent me from doing that.

I've had a good luck with all of my ninja products, so I'm hopeful this will be the one I keep. I seriously consider holding out for the pro model to go on sale, but I actually have a tea kettle for hot water as well as an instant hot on my sink, so even if it did go down in price, the odds are it'll still be at a near $200 premium over the ninja Luxe premiere and I just couldn't justify the increase at this time.

If you return it the gift card is deducted from the refund, correct?
If you purchased it within the past 30 days you can also go on Costco and request a price adjustment. I requested it last night and they refunded me the difference this morning. https://share.google/E1rR9go1aKOd6bJpv

So it does have a water tank for drip coffee but you can't use it with the wand to make Americanos?
You can, (not with the steam wand as it's function is making steam) but it's more of a manual process where you would brew your shot and then remove the portafilter and brew again so it gives you hot water. It doesn't have a dedicated hot water dispenser like the Breville (or Luxe Pro).

How are you making more than one cup of coffee with the Ninja, is it because the double spout?
It has a portafilter insert designed for a quad shot which you can adjust to either be richer espresso or classic drip coffee.

Better than the Phillips espresso machine from Costco?
YES. I had a Philips machine, but it required too much constant maintenance, while only making sub par vending machine like coffees.

Costco is only offering me a $100 GC. Amazon is selling it for $509 with a $50 gift card but offering 10% back with an Amazon credit card.

I have the Breville and the Phillips and you are correct, the Phillips coffee is much lower in quality than the Breville for example. The quality and the strength in my Breville is noticeable. I pretty much have stopped using the Phillips now. I also use a Dreo BaristaMaker milk frother which does a fantastic job and significantly speeds up my time.

Costco is $21 more $499.99 - $120 (Gift Card) = $380 vs $359 ($509.00 - $100 - $50), but you have better customer service and if anything goes wrong with the machine or you don't like it's easy to return after 30 days amazon return policy.

I ordered one yesterday, and have been doing my due diligence now and reading up on the unit. Apparently, there are a few different sub models of the ES601, which might be the reason for pricing differences. Apparently the one in store at Costco (ES655) is slightly different than the online ES601being sold - from the FB group, looks like the ES655 has the upgraded steam wand, the extra froth setting, and the single basket. There is also an ES601C and ES601GM being sold online, but not sure the differences on those. The Euro version seems to have a hot water dispensing button, which the US market does not have (supposedly, I'm still new to this!).

Amazon is $499 minus a $40 credit for me, plus 10% CB using the Prime card. I think Costco is still a better deal, plus the better warranty. Not sure if the in-store version would be a better buy, depends on if the upgrades are worth it (for the ES655 model only sold in stores).

Small correction. Amazon is selling for 499. And Costco is giving 120 shop card.

I got this the last time during the rebate typo that Costco eventually honored. Been running it at least 4-5x days per week and so far I'm pretty happy with it. The "smart" grind function is kind of useless, just need to get a setting you are happy with for double and quad shots and stick with them as this thing goes back and forth with it's recommendations even with the same beans. It does struggle a bit with the quad shots, and I've had to adjust the grind to a bit more coarse to get it to work, but those are great once you find the right setting and stick with it. Been running Lavazza Super Crema and Espresso Barista Gran Crema in it with great tasting espressos and latte's. Get mine from Italy's best coffee for $16-$19 for a 2.5 lb bag with their frequent sales (currently 30%off).
