Battery Life: Up to 12 hours of playback (vs) 8 hours with SE.
Quick Charge: 5-minute charge provides up to 2.5 hours of battery life (vs) 10 min charge for 1.5 hours of battery life.
Charging Port: USB-C charging (vs) Proprietary magnetic charging cable.
EQ Modes: Features multiple preset EQ modes (Standard, Vocal, Bass Boost, Treble Boost, Classic, Volume Boost) and two customizable EQ profiles via the Shokz app.
Microphone: Enhanced dual noise-canceling microphone with an advanced AI noise reduction algorithm for clearer calls
Water Resistance: In contrary though, the SE are IP67 rated and highly resistant to dust and can be submerged in water up to 1 meter for 30 minutes wherein the OpenRun Pro2 are IP55 rated means sweat and splash-resistant, but not designed for submersion.
Open Run Pro 2
Pros:
- USB C charger
- Better battery life, I use these daily and charge twice a week instead of 3 times compared to the original shokz
- Much better sound quality (due to it having open speakers)
- Better mic quality even with wind
- Buttons are easier to press and identify
Cons
- Not waterproof, splashproof though. I have ran and biked in these in the rain and it had no issue
- Less bone conduction, but in the US, you can use the App and turn on "classic" mode, which is pure bone conduction. Sound quality is worse with pure bone conduction.
- More sound bleeding
Neutral
- Nice, hard case, but it is bulkier
SE
Pros:
- Waterproof
Cons:
- Proprietary charger
- Worse battery life
- Worse sound quality
- Worse mic quality for calls due to less wind cancellation
Neutral
- Carrying bag, slimmer but not as nice.
With both, you will still struggle to hear the audio if the environment is loud (like cars passing by and windy days). For half the price compared to the Pro 2 when it's on sale ($150 Pro 2 on sale vs $75 SE). I would say it is worth the upgrade but it's because I use these almost everyday.
