Will it drop further? My 5800x has been working well, but I'm very tempted to do a final upgrade

It's hard to say. AMD has been releasing a bunch of spinoff models of old AM4 processors. It's probably just a stockpile of old stuff that they're rebadging to clear inventory. Once it's gone it's gone. Look at the 5700X3D for a similar story

They definitely are still making this stuff. Process technology for it is mature and it's probably dirt cheap to produce. They've been pumping out 5950x for years. Zen 4 has been out for a long time. They won't be "rebadging" a 5950x in order to clear out inventory because they could simply slash prices or even throw them away - holding years worth of excess inventory is actually extremely expensive.

The issue is that this generation is much slower than the Zen 4 (which almost as fast as Zen 5). It may be worth buying one if you have an old mobo though. A good way to get 16 core performance with cheaper DDR4. Much better than the LGA-2011/2066 2P frankenstein server builds that are popular which burn way more power and can barely match this processors performance.

Anyway, most Microcenters have been out of stock for it anyway or at most have like 1. This post has like 30 thumbs up but there were probably less than 30 processors available nationwide, lol. Only exception with decent stock was the NY area. Might just be worth buying online if you don't live close, this processor was $220 ish just yesterday. You have to ask if it is worth your time and gas.

You should buy a lottery ticket. Nice luck on that one
