They corrupt files and data. I used a few for photo backup and the majority of the photos were impacted. Like others said I moved to Samsung and have been happy so far

Have been on the lookout for Prime Day deals for SSD drives for this very reason. About a year ago my SANDISK EXTREME SSD started disconnecting from my computer randomly, has had terrible warm-up latency (~10 second wait time just to read a directory if it hasn't been active in the last minute), and then corruption started with files and directories disappearing. At least glad to know it is not just me having a bad unit. Will not be buying SANDISK again!

I'm in look for multiple new portable ssd. It's a bit worrisome to hear the sandisk are having issues. my sandisk 1tb drives (all from costco) from I'm not even sure how long ago - several years. they are all rock solid. i, having been using hynix m.2s in all my laptops and couple PCs for a few years, purchased the Hynix ssds.... failure, failure, failure, failurewould like to know if there are any reliable at this point. for ssd the failure rate should be almost non existent in the limited use.the hynix I have the 1st one I purchased that has an is still working but then the three I purchased and hadn't used and the two new ones I purchased and 1st had issues with are all bad to likely going bad.newest two I opened before the three unopened and 1st one was bad immediately which took me a couple days to nail down... 2nd of newest was working and I swapped out cable with 1st and seemed to fix.. for a couple days then disconnected, disconnected... plug into PC and errors found, scan no bad.. transfer disconnected.... errors found, no bad... wtf started rerurn. 2nd of newest 2 working fine.. returned 1st.... return window closed 2nd started slowing down in transfers the speeding up again.... then started disconnecting but no errors listed connecting to PC but slowing down ever xfer.opened other three older ones and one bad right away, one bad in a couple months use and 3rd just started the fast the slow to stop then fast transfer...Hynix does not do warranty for personal and I don't so warranties anyway as it's almost always more hastle and frequently money than its worth.so looking at crucial and Samsung and every drive seems to have some complaints about going bad.the ratings on these sandisk are generally higher and mine have been solid but then there are all these reports of failures ive found now that I'm looking.any friggin reliable USB ssds????
