They make you submit a photo including the serial number using an app that tracks location.

Some of us knew better and drilled drainage holes when first installed, before the recall.

Amazon has this for $50 higher. If you wanna buy from Amazon/ price match, make sure to go to amazon product page and report Costco's lower price in the "Tell us about a lower price?" section. They'll eventually match Costco

Can this be used on a dedicated AC slot on the wall and not a window? Or would a regular unit be better for that?

Do you have a pic of your cut cord? Thanks
Think you have to take the picture in a certain app so you can't fudge it

Does the water accumulate on the inside bottom part?
Asking because I plan on plugging all the holes on the outside, and putting a 5 gallon water tank on top of it, to drip inside, to improve cooling.
Now if there is water that pools on the inside, well I should be able to figure that out, I hope
Ummm ... Maybe I'm not fully understanding what you're planning... But do you really think the AC unit's bracket is designed to hold an extra 40 lbs of weight (assuming a monsoon comes along and fills the bucket before much can drain)?

Is this a new version that came out after the recall?
Yes, it's the "new" version... which is the same as the old version - they just include a new drain plug, level, and updated instructions in the box.

Bought from Costco when it was on sale and was offered a recall refund that would have netted me that plus $80. That was money I was happy to turn down. This thing was a pain in the ass to install. I've hit the point in my SlickDealing career where I have better ways of putting that kind of money in my pocket for less effort.

This vs the HD plus model for $350?

I believe the HD version is a little more efficient someone said on SD

I used crimp connectors with shrink tubing for mine. Waiting for the check currently. Our unit had no mold, but I realized there were no drain holes at the end of last summer when it dumped a ton of water on my carpet as I was taking it out of the window. Found the recall this year and drilled a couple holes.
I had the same experience with my cheap 5000btu one from WM. I hope I remember to check for a pee hole next time I use it (likely for a power outage).

depending on your unit's power gauge, be careful of the small silver connections, I had to use 5 to reconnect mine https://www.youtube.com/shorts/wSIpuiibI0Q
The silver wires do not carry current. The little wago connector is rated for 20amp , that's impressive.

I replaced my moldy unit with highsense J shaped one from Costco. It is certainly bit louder and regularly makes water sloshing sound. To avoid mold, it's been running non-stop for a few week.

I wish I had drilled holes and avoided falling sick and this return refund drama.

So the unit in OP is a mold bomb unless one makes precautions, or is that the older model?

Last I asked Amazon, they did not price match, especially warehouse club prices. One of the reasons I cancelled membership.
