That's a bummer MSI put just a 60hz screen in this. But overall, a very nice deal on a petite powerhouse.

cheap trackpad and speakers, and overall durability is questionable. but the series 2 chip should solve the overheating issues. and it's 2.2lbs! just fyi after a bit of research.

edit: ordered, fingers crossed on build quality. we'll see

Was curious about these "Arc" integrated laptop GPUs and they don't seem like a huge improvement over the previous integrated Intel GPUs (Iris Xe and whatnot). I mean, yeah, they're like twice as fast but...that was a low baseline for Iris.

For reference, this particular model (Arc 140V) seems to slot somewhere below a 1050ti, performance wise.

So I just don't want anyone to be fooled that this might be anywhere near the performance of any of the discrete Intel Arc desktop GPUs (A580/B580/etc).

anything else comparable at this price point in a 13.3 inch? xps 13 is 1500 for similar specs but also a better build. anything else?

Some implementations of the 256V/258V chips can get up to like 4,400 in Time Spy, I've read. For reference, that's very close to the low-powered 3050 ti in the XPS 9510 & 9520. Those Dells aren't powerhouse machines either, but they're a good comparison because they could handle some moderate gaming. I saw someone run CyberPunk 2077 on a new 256V laptop and it was getting almost 60 FPS at Med. 1200p! On a thin-&-light laptop with no dedicated GPU, that's surreal.

I've had one of these for about 4-5 months now. Screen is excellent, battery life is stellar (I have a Core 1 series Framework and an 8840hs Thinkpad I'm comparing this to as well), it is easily on the level of a Macbook Air. As for build quality, it is very good but not on the level of a Macbook or Thinkpad. But you do have to realize how amazingly light it is. It is the lightest laptop I've ever held at anything close to this size. So light, that it changes the way you think about its build quality. Your brain just can't comprehend how it can be so light, and so you are thinking well of course it isn't milled aluminum or magnesium alloy for the shell.

All told I'd give it a 9/10. I also tried the Summit 2 in 1 with the exact same specs but better build quality. That came at the cost of it being noticeably heavier. Given I take my Thinkpad for longer trips or serious VM work with its 128gb of RAM, I would much rather have this in my bag for quick trips and vacays.

Forgot to mention that the performance is great. The RAM limitation is the only thing I notice vs the 8840hs in VM work or development. The 140v is faster than the 780m in every game I've tried, in some of them it is the difference between playable and unplayable. Cash Cleaner Simulator for instance runs like ass on the 780m but the 140v handles it so well I can barely tell I'm playing on an iGPU. Similar story in The Precinct. I do run the panel in 1920x1200 all the time though so the resolution matches the Lenovo. I can't tell the difference between 1200p at 100% scaling and the native 2.8k res at like 150% since Windows 11 is so bad at scaling.

I've been using it for a few days now. The build quality / sharp corners / general keyboard and trackpad feel are all sub-par. I think they can keep it this light but also tighten up the empty feeling space in the chassis and deck lid, it's like there's nothing solid feeling underneath when you press on anything. And it feels like if you stressed it physically in any way you'd break it. I'll keep it for a few more days, also have galaxy book5 pro coming in to compare. So far the thinkpad X9 is my favorite in this smaller lighter notebook category, but the MSI's weight is hard to overlook, and the screen and performance / battery life is excellent.

Returning, but also didn't realize there's a 15% restocking fee. Didn't read the fine print
