The batteries themselves can be used with 60v or 20v tools.
I just purchased this yesterday for $340 but it comes with a 9ah flexvolt battery and charger. Is this a better deal? Then buying a battery separately?

It sounds like you should have saved half of your money and just got the 20V version

This is certainly a better deal for those who are already in 60V Flexvolt system, but worth keeping an eye out for the separate battery deals that pop up if you just reallllly want this.

Also keep in mind that the flexvolt batteries are HEAVY. Depending on what you are cutting, mo powah may not be necessary.
If you are cutting 2x pressure treated lumber, maybe. If you are cutting plywood, probably not.
I had a corded Makita and I'd say this 60v stands up to it without question. The 20v doesn't but again depends on your use.
