Can't even charge an EV at 30 amps. This is a bit undersized, methinks. I'd want 10k watts on propane, or close to it.

What? Tons of residential chargers at 30amps. This also has a 14-50 plug that will definitely charge an EV…

A 14-50 plug is meant for a 50 amp breaker. The typical basic EV L2 charge is 7.2kW. That's 50 watts short of what this supplies on gasoline, and anybody getting a tri-fuel is going to run on propane or natural gas, neither of which can supply a full 30 amps. Also, it's not like you run 30 amps for long on a 30 amp breaker. After a bit, it'll overheat and trip. Sure, you can cut down to 24 amps, but I hope you don't make a mistake in the software on your car or charger, because they're designed for 30, 40, or 50 from the factory. Just another thing to deal with when the power is out. And if you're charging, nothing left for the rest of the house.

Nah, this is in some weird middle-zone for power. Not big enough, and not small enough. Just wrong. Better to get a generator that can properly feed a 50 amp line and do a full 30 amps all day long while on ng or propane.

There's no EVSE designed to draw a continuous 30 amps… Anything designed for a 30 amp breaker runs at 24 amps per code. They're common and they exist, so your original comment makes no sense (as the poster above me also pointed out). Tons of EV users run at 16 amps overnight.

This thing runs my 3.2k sq ft house, 5 ton AC (soft start), and pool without issue. I think most people would find that acceptable. Maybe you should just get a car that runs on gasoline if charging an EV at max watts is what's most important to you.

If you want something larger for your EV, that's totally okay and understandable. But don't spread misinformation by saying this can't charge an EV. That's just ignorant.

Awesome price. Slightly more than what I paid for a Champion 100520 (8750 W open frame inverter, gas only) 4 yr ago.

As to central AC, I wanted to mention that earlier this year, I purchased a variable speed high efficiency 4 ton Trane central air that only draws 16 amps RLA and 12 amps LRA.
