Been looking for a second cheap/compact Blu ray player to use with an old 1080p vizio and 720p projector. I like that it's 4k if I ever upgrade the upstairs TV, and with 8% no rush shipping brings it just under $100. That is non-4k blu ray player range. I'm in.

It does not support Dolby Vision & also doesn't offer their HCX chipset and Optimizer.

Oh sweet. AI was right then. I asked which was the best and it said the UB820.

lol I appreciate the confidence but I can't answer that for anyone but me.

I can tell you in our dedicated room we have the Panasonic ub820 and our living room has the Panasonic ub420.

Yep, Panasonic UB820 it is then. As it would be going in a home theater.

I've seen your posts here for years now and you've always demonstrated a lot of knowledge about AV equipment and not just anecdotal, but actual competence on the subject.

Especially when it's threads about AVR's. I've seen you help a lot of people and you certainly helped me in determining which one to get and that's saying something given just how many choices there are. I'd like to think I'm certainly not a rookie on the subject, but it's always nice to have someone that can reassure you on making the right decision. So for that, I thank you.

Just get a PS5.
I like my PS5 a lot and it works for this in a pinch, but it's actually a pretty bad uhd bluray player.
The biggest annoyance by far for me is that in order to get the most out of games for the PS5 my receiver and TV go into gaming modes that reduce lag. Those settings are crap for movies, but it doesn't care if the PS5 is playing games or watching movies. You still get game focused settings.

Don't these things used to be like $30? I have a Samsung Blu-ray player that I got for less than $50 like 15 years ago. On top of that, this is used. Am I missing something here?
