Thanks to Deal Hunter phoinix for finding this deal.

Available from:About this book:
  • Not crazy, eccentric-billionaire rich, like many of the visitors to her hometown of Artemis, humanity's first and only lunar colony. Just rich enough to move out of her coffin-sized apartment and eat something better than flavored algae. Rich enough to pay off a debt she's owed for a long time.
  • So when a chance at a huge score finally comes her way, Jazz can't say no. Sure, it requires her to graduate from small-time smuggler to full-on criminal mastermind. And it calls for a particular combination of cunning, technical skills, and large explosions—not to mention sheer brazen swagger. But Jazz has never run into a challenge her intellect can't handle, and she figures she's got the 'swagger' part down.
  • The trouble is, engineering the perfect crime is just the start of Jazz's problems. Because her little heist is about to land her in the middle of a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself.
  • Trapped between competing forces, pursued by a killer and the law alike, even Jazz has to admit she's in way over her head. She'll have to hatch a truly spectacular scheme to have a chance at staying alive and saving her city.
  • Jazz is no hero, but she is a very good criminal.
  • That'll have to do.

I'm glad that some people enjoyed it, but it was not for me. The protagonist makes dumb decisions constantly and it drove me up a wall. I know that the author was reacting to the backlash of people calling Mark Watney a Mary Sue and wanted to write a flawed character but he turned the knob too far here IMO.

I know it's not as good and PHM or The Martian, but I thought this was another fun read.

Easy read if you're inbetween books. Kind of forgettable unfortunately, but fun while it lasts.

Andy tried to write a female protagonist and... just wrote a man with an inferiority complex. The world of Artemis is fun and interesting though. A lot of thiught, probably more thought, was put into world building, than the main character. Worth the read to check the world out at least.

Borrow it from your local library. Worth a read but not a book I personally would feel the need to own and read more than once.

Andy Weir is an accomplished writer with several of his SciFi books being turned into movies (The Martian & Project Hail Mary). Great price for a fun read. Unsure if this one will get turned into a movie, but we'll see.

You know you are a good author when your "bad" books are still very entertaining and high quality.
I agree with others that this isn't on the same level as The Martian or Project Hail Mary but it is still a really solid read. I'd buy it (and did) at this price. I like to reread and this is good enough to pick up again in a few years.

Same review as everyone else. This book is bad for Andy Weir. But bad for Andy Weir is still not bad.
Artemis is not even in the same class as The Martian or Project Hail Mary which are both amazing books.
