Why get this when the Ninja is available at Costco for $499 with a $120 Costco cash card? We've had this for years and has been a good unit but the ninja can just do way more.

I bought this many years ago thinking I could make coffee with it. The answer says "Breville Barista Express Espresso Machine is designed to make espresso, not regular drip coffee. However, you can make an Americano by adding hot water to the espresso shots."

Espresso is a method of coffee designed to make a coffee very quickly, using a machine to push water under high pressure through finely ground beans. It takes around 30 seconds to "pull a shot" of espresso. The result is a very highly concentrated "shot" of coffee. Some people drink it just like that, but it is more common to mix it with something. If you mix it with steamed milk, it's known as a latte. If you mix it with water, it's known as an Americano

This is a Quality issue. When it comes to Espresso machines, the built quality is the only thing that matters. The pressure pump dies rather quickly for low quality. Ninja is known for versatility, not quality.

If you don't know the difference between the two, get the Ninja.

You'll want to replace the grinder pretty quickly. The one that's built into the unit is pretty lackluster. You'll be chasing consistency issues forever. Something like the Turin DF54 is a great replacement.

I bought a very similar deal 2 years ago...

as everyone says, the grinder is very lackluster & the weak point in the system. When you do inevitably want to upgrade & go to sell this one, you'll find the resale value is atrocious.

I'd recommend getting this model used for ~$300 so someone else eats the depreciation.

Is the ninja deal still on at Costco? I don't have a membership as we don't have one withing 2 hours of me but I'm Looking to get the ninja and I'll buy a Costco membership to save $100 and get the Costco cash if the deal is still going on and they ship.
