I went there last year. The pyramids and mosques were fantastic, the food was incredible, and everything else was pretty bad. People were pushy and rude, animals were sick and dying in the streets, and the air pollution was horrible. I wouldn't recommend staying in Cairo for more than a day, but I did hear great things about some of the surrounding cities, like Luxor.

My son has been asking to go see a pyramid, I think he'll have to settle for the Bass Pro Shop in Memphis for the near future

We went to Egypt a couple of years ago and had a fabulous time. Don't listen to haters. It is a very tourist friendly country - a significant part of the economy depends on tourism. The archeological sites and the museums are unique and the food is awesome. And the dollar goes a long way there.

A honeymoon in the Great Pyramid conducting magical rituals sounds fabulous this time of year.

I went about 10 years ago and had a great time. If anyone wants the name of a good tour guide mine struck out on his own (he's a great guy). He used to work at Gap Adventures which is no frills but really fun.
