negative, that date is 3 years after manufacture and means they should be inspected to see if they've been stored well. if you'll look at that orange sticker, it's a time/temperature indicator. so long as the middle dot is not darker than the outside ring, they should be perfectly fine to eat. (and some people eat them well past that and don't die)

As others have said, no. It is intended as a "reminder" for quartermasters to inspect them for any sort of damage in order to force rotation.
I have regularly eaten 15 year-old MREs, with never, ever even a hint of a problem. But I store them in the cool basement. Do not ever store them in an attic or garage - heat and time are the enemy. They are OK in high heat for a very short period of time, or low temperature for a very long period of time.
Speaking of low temperature, freezing is not a good thing. The crystals of the ice tend to make little daggers that pierce the container that causes spoilage in a couple of days after it thaws.

i went to their location and picked up pallets in person but everything i've seen shipped is banded and wrapped in a black plastic overwrap
ETA: they also send you a picture of your MREs in the email they send with tracking info, which i've never seen anybody do before

I was pulling the trigger on a case, when it came to payment processing I bailed out.

The small (apparently) company does their own payment processing, that's a No-Go for me. I'm PayPal or some reputable third party processor only when it comes to small companies.

Some credit cards allow you to create "virtual cards" online that you can deactivate later. In case you're worried about getting your info stolen. Perfect use case for situations like this.

it's a relatively small family business that so far as i can tell, usually deals in industrial surplus. for whatever reason they jumped on 1,000 pallets or so of MREs and that's how i found them. i got in early and so far have bought 4 pallets of 8/25 inspection (since sold out) from them. so far i've dealt with the owner, the owner's sister and the guy that opened up on a saturday for me (armando?) i can't believe this made the front page but if they're not sold out tomorrow, call them. old school telephone order if you have any reservations whatsoever, otherwise i think you're missing out

not from here but those are really tasty, also just got a few cases of koshers and so far they've been about as good for mains and maybe better for sides on the two menus i've tried thus far. weird packaging though, military issue but everything used is commercial

where MREs shine is being a complete meal, not just an entree, that is completely contained. don't have to look for utensils, don't have to find a way to heat it, have sides, have condiments, easy. but these complete meals are $3.25 each. a single can of campbells chunky soup is $2.75. there's no denying that this is a killer deal

Use a virtual credit card # that you can change after the transaction.

The US military MREs in the early 1990s had expiration dates on them for 25 years.
As a soldier, ate them often, every day for weeks sometimes.
Recall one could buy them at the PXes for $21 for 24?
